"It was a very competitive situation there. I think both players did a good job," he said. "I would expect to see Nate in the league this year. I think he's still a quality player. Let's say the bottom line for us is, we have one preseason game left and we want to let the guys who are going to be together be together. We could have made that decision after this game, but we felt it was better to make it prior to the last preseason game to give those specialists a chance to work together, just like they would during the regular season and do that one week in advance rather than keep the competition going another week."

Hodel is the former Long Snapper for the Cardinals who was picked up by the Pats this summer. Apparently the competition was very close, but they decided to go with their draft pick.
