I know that everyone wants to see the Chiefs offense begin it's future with Matt Cassel at the helm. I am one of those fans. However, I believe the Chiefs need to let Cassel rest another week, get in a full week of practice and be 100% for week 3. Brodie Croyle played well enough for the Chiefs to have a chance to win last Sunday, and KC would benefit greatly from focusing on establishing the running game against the Raiders. I feel that the Chiefs offensive line would gain a ton of confidence in a game featuring heavy rush, play action and screen passing. It will give the line more momentum and when Cassel does come in next Sunday, the line will be better prepared mentally to protect him.
Kansas City cannot afford to force Cassel in there, and risk injuring his knee further, or causing a longer set back. Play Croyle, he's healthy and game ready.
Protect the future and establish the run.
