Seymour for our '09 1st Rd. Pick
Who would've done this? I personally would have been all over this and then tried to re-sign him to a long-term contract with all the money we are giving Tyson Jackson, who I think will be a bust along with Dorsey. Seymour is only 29 so he has to have at least 3,4, maybe 5 good years left in him. Then I would've traded next years first round pick for Jason Peters. Move Albert over to RT and then all of a sudden you are looking at a pretty good team.

No offense Wilson
But I didn’t agree with anything you said there. Tyson Jackson is Richard Seymore, just 7 years younger. Its been one game, easy with glossing him a bust. Jason Peters is the most overrated Left Tackle since…ummmm….Tony Mandarich?

I guess it's different for me
I don’t hate the guy. in fact, I think he is a great person. I just don’t think he is a good enough QB to merit a 1st rd pick. Bradford and McCoy are waaaay better.
My biggest issue is that we are currently set at the QB position. In fact it’s one of the few positions I think we can feel good about. I would not care if they spent our 1st rounder and both of our 2nds on O-line help.

im not saying
I hate him as a person, he is a great person and does great things, but as far as a player and talent, i dont like him and think he is over rated. i dont think he will ever amount to a good nfl qb or even a starter. if most nfl teams go heavy with the wildcat he could contribute a little bit there but he will never be an elite player in this league like some people think and would be a waste of a draft pick if we were to draft him.

Right about to say that
But wilson has a point. We don’t Richard Seymour we have Tyson Jackson. He’s more of a Ty Warren than he is a Richard Seymour right now but if he could develop into the same type of player Seymour is (which he has every possibility of doing) then we’ll be set at that position for a very long time.

After McGlockton and Williams, I'm a little gun-shy about FA D-Line stars.
The Seymour deal is the kind of thing Pioli probably wants to do only sparingly. He already rolled the dice with a 2nd-rounder for his QB (and a LB)Even a 1st-rounder in some far-distant day (when he might be dead), Al’s certainly open to making the 2009 season something special, even if it compromises the choices he will have in 2010 and beyond.
OTOH, it ain’t like Pioli ain’t got cash.

Hey 1970...
I’m not saying it would happen….but if it did it would still be tremendous for us. Think about the leverage we would have over teams that have no chance to draft high and get a QB…such as Tennessee….
Oh and I think a team like that may have a few players we could benefit from in exchange…their pretty darn good on both sides of the ball. I wonder what we could leverage from a team like that…good in all areas except QB?
Hmmm!!

http://ajax-dj.mybrute.com
by ChiefDJ on Sep 18, 2009 2:30 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, I've seen Jackson play one game, the same as you
And we went over the stats on Dorsey last year about how he did better than Haynesworth, Sapp and several other DTs in their rookie years.
Why don’t you do a little research before knee jerk reaction posts liket his?
http://ajax-dj.mybrute.com
by ChiefDJ on Sep 18, 2009 2:33 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Look you have to see it this way. There were probably 100 other DT’s along with Haynesworth, Sapp, etc. who produced the same stats as rookies who are either out of the league now, role players, average players, etc.. You can’t just take the top 1% (Haynesworth, Sapp) out of that group. The whole group has to be considered.
by wilson123 on Sep 18, 2009 2:36 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
You misunderstand
I’m not saying Dorsey will be better than those players (necessarily) just because they had similar stats. I’m saying that players at that position take some time to develop. Even perennial Pro Bowlers like Sapp and Haynesworth were not fantastic their rookie seasons or even for a few years after.
You have to give these guys some patience and let them develop. One season isn’t enough and one game DEFINATELY isn’t enough.

Why is everyone so obssessed with moving Brandon Albert? Move him to Guard, move him to RT, move him to Center.

Nope. That sack-fumble when KC was fighting to tie the score at 31 was the fault of the right side and C.
That sack (at about 1:56 to go in regulation, was caused by #95, who beat Goff and Ndukwe off a stunt. Suggs, #55, lined up in 3-tech, and Jones, #95 lined up wide and behind of Suggs. Suggs pushed Goff and Ndukwe straight back, and Jones came roaring up through the A-gap. Suggs is an animal. I swear.

Still, I was wrong about Albert not giving up the late strip for the turnover.
The announcers said it was Trevor Pryce who got the hand in from Croyle’s back side. It could be argued that Croyle could’ve been more aware, and used his feet better, but it was desperation-cum-garbage-time.

only the right way to think if you are Al Davis
The best teams of recent years have build through the draft. Trading older, experienced players past their time for draft picks and accumulating those draft picks to gain mobility in the draft. The mobility allows those teams to get the players that fit them the best rather than be forced to “take the best player available.”

If it is your real opinion, I think you’re overreacting to 1 what happened in 1 game.
Your theory mortgages the future of the team, and shortchanges 2 very promising DL in Dorsey and Jackson.

wins in 2009, or a winning franchise?
trading 2 years worth of 1st round picks rarely works out for a team, unless they expect to win the super bowl that year… which I don’t think anyone expects the Chiefs to do.
Even if the goal was Superbowl 09 or bust… giving up 1st round draft picks is a bad idea.
Pioli and Haley are working on building a winning franchise that not only improves this year, but wins for years to come. Your idea might yield a couple more wins in 09, but it’d cost this franchise for years to come.

we cant tie up that much money on the d line. dorsey + jackson get tons of money adding another high paid d liner would be stupid.
jason peters is probably the most overrated lt atm and seymor had one good game as a raider.

Alright, alright, everyone. Play time is over.
This wasn’t declared the ANNE RETART GUPPY FRIDAY post (but some comments almost pushed it over).

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes; after that, who cares?! He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!

Do I need to whip up a guppy tag for this!?
This guy is one of five things
1) Squarebender with a new SN
2) THE CHAMP with a new SN
3) Some dude who gets all his facts from playing franchise mode in Madden
4) A guy who is using controversy to get attention
5) Drunk
Thanks for posting though you’ve entertained a lot of people. I look forward to more, and welcome to AP.

Ok...Uhm..got a question..
I came to AP …about the end of the Guppy reporting about some coach either Cowher or Shanahan buying a house somewhere so I get the comment/reference to that..
Who are The Champ and Squarebender… Sorry its just I love the humor of AP…and I often miss out because of me just being a day late and a dollar short.
I also understand if the memory of these members/former members hurts to much to bring up…Sometimes the past is just left there….
Thanks

oh my...
They are both so unfortunate….
The Champ was just very very obnoxious and always had that moronic picture in his signature…
squarebender I don’t recall the issue with him..

squarebender was a certified jackass
he was the troll definition calling people idiots and what not just to be objective. He was a solid contributor for a while but he got fired from his job or something or other made him mad and he just began to be an asshole to everyone
