Chiefs Scouts Headed to Florida/Tennessee Game

Finally! A reason to talk about Tim Tebow on Arrowhead Pride....

A few Kansas City Chiefs scouts are headed down to Gainesville, FL this weekend to watch the Tennessee Volunteers take on the Florida Gators inside Ben Hill Griffin stadium.

Chris Steuber of Scout.com reports that representatives of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins will be there as well as the Chiefs.  Considering the talent coming out of these schools, I would imagine the majority of NFL teams will be represented.

The game is being touted among some folks as a battle between Tennessee safety Eric Berry and Florida quarterback Tim Tebow.

A recent ESPN the Magazine article on Berry said he might be drafted above USC safety Taylor Mays, who we've talked about on a few occasions. With the loss of Bernard Pollard, and depending on how well the DaJuan Morgan/Mike Brown tandem performs, Berry's an interesting story.  You can read more about him in the Scout.com article.

Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver was recently quoted as saying he would certainly consider Tim Tebow if the Jaguars were in the position to draft him.  The excitement that a player like him brings could certainly help bring the folks from Jacksonville into the stadium on Sundays.

Of course, there are more pro prospects from each team.  My guess is that the Chiefs are there look at a few players, not just one or two.

For more information on the Gators, check out SB Nation's Alligator Army.  For the Volunteers, visit Rocky Top Talk (one of the best SBN sites in my estimation).

Ms. Arrowhead Pride is a UT alum so if she reads the site (she doesn't) then she'll probably chime in with some Vols talk.

yeah I agree

I’m not much of a Gator fan but Spikes is pretty awesome. Wouldn’t mind seeing him in red!

I’m afraid I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, if you will, so now I’m afraid I have something of a mess on my hands. -Arrested Development

When we blitz, have the LB's do a KC Strip. Do this in rememberance of DT.

Here's what they should scout.

The LT,LG,C,RG, RT, WR’s, LB’s, RB’s, and finally Safeties. Repeat for both teams.

Cry Havoc! And let slip the Chiefs Defense of War!!!

I hope KC has quality scouts!
I have thought for some time that one of our biggest problems was poor scouting. I for one would have liked to have seen more coverage on the turn over of the team scouting staff. I understand the final decisions rest with Pioli and Haley, but those guys need boots on the ground.

Tebow?

Of course they’re scouting others, but I seriously they aren’t considering wasting a top draft pick on Tebow. Good college QB does not always translate into good NFL QB. Plus, I am so sick of hearing about Tebow.

I agree entirely with nateforchiefs that the Chiefs should be first and foremost scouting for an offensive line then WR, LB, & RBs before we look at QB.

Tebow?

Meant to say “seriously hope”

Sorry, I'm just not draft ready

Hell I’m still looking for the last draft to work out, I’m not ready to start guessing about who we might draft I can only say this…It will not be Michael Crabtree.

is it me? or isn't about time the Lamar Hunt trophy belonged to His team?

I’m a Chiefs fan Dammit and I’m damn proud of it!

2010 1st round Pick

Best OL available.

I actually really want Taylor Mays or Eric Berry. Both are amazing.

Spikes

I would love to see him here. Carlos Dunlap too. He just switched to DE from OLB. He’s a beast.

Sackoff (McIntosh,Goff) like Brangelina.

by DaChefs on Sep 18, 2009 12:30 PM CDT reply actions

Frankly ...

I’d rather spend our early draft picks on impressive Offensive Linemen and Receivers who can come in and make an immediate impact.

I consider both of those to be more postiions of need right now than anything on the defensive side of the ball.
