Chiefs Injury Report: QB Matt Cassel, CB Brandon Flowers
Two key Kansas City Chiefs appeared on the weekly injury report today (via Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com)
- QB Matt Cassel (knee) - Limited in participation
- CB Brandon Flowers (shoulder) - Limited in participation
Last week, the Chiefs had Jackie Battle (illness) and Terrance Copper (Hamstring) listed as well.
Cassel's still the great unknown. Coach Todd Haley said he's done everything he can to be ready and he expects to know a little earlier this time. Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star was on 810 WHB this morning and said his gut feeling is that he'll play.
"I think he's going to be out there," Babb said. "I don't think they're not going to rush him back. If he's not healthy, that's one thing. But they need him, and he wants to play, and he's probably close enough to make it happen so he'll play."
(By the way, Babb predicts a Chiefs victory)
Flowers injury is interesting. Last week, he talked before the game as if he was going to play. This sounds like it was the coach's decision and not his (which is way it usually goes).
This report isn't so bad. Look at the big picture - the Chiefs only have two players listed on the injury report through one week.
The Raiders are down to four receivers, one of whom is Javon Walker.
The Raiders full injury report is here:
- WR Nick Miller (shin) -Out
- WR Chaz Schilens (foot) - Out
- WR Johnnie Lee Higgns (shoulder) - Did not practice
- CB Nnamdi Asomugha (wrist) - Full practice
- LB Kirk Morrison (elbow) - Full practice

Up in the Air...
I’d love to see Cassel play, but if he’s still not where he needs to be, I’m cool with Croyle after his preseason and last week’s performance. Besides, it’s a home game against the Raiders.
Put this in your pipe and smoke it:
1. Chiefs will be at least 8-8 and vie for division champs
2. DJ will break out and finally have his year
3. LJ returns to form
4. DBowe drops will reduce

Nnamdi Asomugha?
Think his parents just picked a bunch of random letters and just went with it?

For like a year
I spelled it Nmandi and not Nnamdi.

Under the radar
Maybe the real deal is. As more than one reporter has said Brodie has flat outperformed Cassel on most days. If Cassel is less than 90% there is no way we are better off with him starting over Croyle who my only complaint about ever was durability looked extremly good last year before the injury and appears to me to be healthy and stronger. I hope Croyle starts and Haley lets him throw the ball around from the start the 3rd quarter looked great last week with Bowe Bradley Engram and Ryan all making plays when their # was called and Croyle looked very impressive throwing the ball. Add Wade to the mix and all 5 can make big plays!! That is are strength use it!!!!!! Remember 4th and inches is 1st and 10 or you lose most of the time. don’t punt on 4th and inches just to make a point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(HALEY)

I have a hard time believing
that brodie is the QB Cassel is….and have an even harder time believing that haley and pioli care about perception involving their depth chart and position battles.
Croyle looks like a backup quarterback to me…He had a nice game protecting the football dont get me wrong….I respect what he was able to do but I did kind of expect a bit more in terms of down the field, even when he had time he couldnt deal with picking up the speed…something he had issues with in camp…
more than anything if Cassel is not to the point where he can plant, turn, and run away from a defender…he cant be in there…its too bad…although I was extremelly encouraged that maybe Ndukwe is a RT solution.

my past Croyle complaint
(can’t speak to this as I didn’t get to see the last game)
Croyle used to totally eye-screw the receiver that he was going to throw to – totally telegraphing his throws. I saw him do it a bit this preseason. If he learns to look people off, he could really develop.
