As expected, WR Hank Baskett went unclaimed on waivers. He's now free to sign with any team. Baltimore would not surprise me.

Sounds about right.
I think we are solid at WR right now.
i was wondering
why he said “as expected”
based on his other tweet, which makes sense, IF he’s claimed in the waiver process, teams assume his current 1.5 million contract… if you sign him as a FA.. you can pay less
he still might be a chief

* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
Wattup Stag?
I don’t know if he is much of an upgrade for us at this point. i don’t think he would take Bradleys spot. Maybe Bobby Engrams’ spot but, I think Wade will have that locked up.

yeah...I wouldn't cut Bradley for him
But, it does seem like Wade and Engram are the same guy.
kinda surprised they would want both…
IF Baskett is signed, I bet Engram is cut
but, that’s a hunch.
Baskett seems like Lelie…

Sure...
but if they traded for him….would they not have had to pay him the 1.5 mil?

prolly
but, 5 other teams, including KC inquired about a trade for him…
now that he’s on waivers, a trade is moot.
you choices are:
A) claim him on waivers and pay him $1.5 million
B) sign him as a FA and maybe only pay him $750k

but you would give something up too...
if it is a player some of the salary is offset

but, you cut someone to pick up a FA
so, you drop some salary there, depending on how the contract was structured

it still may be worth it to wait for a waiver to clear...
then offer a lower contract

Apparently
we were interested in a trade too, but we didn’t pick him up either
Put this in your pipe and smoke it:
1. Chiefs will be at least 8-8 and vie for division champs
2. DJ will break out and finally have his year
3. LJ returns to form
4. DBowe drops will reduce

Ive already said this...
but I think we may have reached the limit for mediocre receivers for us to have. At some point its better to groom talent than to waste a bunch of 3rd or 4th receiver types who aren’t getting passes thrown there way.

casselbasket sounded good to me~
What do LAWYERS and SPERM have in common?

that was all gung-ho on getting Baskett and hoping he made it past St.Louis on the waiver wire? I, for one, could give a damn either way. If he signs on, I’ll take it as long as he can produce in a Chiefs jersey. What do I know, I thought Ashley Lelie was going to do great things for us this year. Honestly, I’m not digging the carousel at WR. I know he’s trying to promote competition and make them work to retain their position, but our bigger focus is the OL. If I had it, I’d kindly insert the dead horse picture, but it’s a true statement.

I hope that, after this week, the whole roster is set, and the Chiefs go about their business developing talent and winning games.
For now, though.. it’s still kinda fun to speculate on who will or will not get signed.

Bobbie Sippio?
I remember Dawson to Taylor, Kenney to Carson, and Blackledge catching the snap in his facemask. Seen it all...
All of those guys I understand being without jobs except....
….Matt Jones, seriously there were a handful of teams that were willing to give Mike Vick a “2nd chance”, why not Matt Jones? I have been critical of Jones’s snow skiing accident but he has talent and not a sniff (pun intended) from anyone. After Vick getting only 2 games, I’m ready to bring ole Matty boy in for a test drive. If he’s clean, what’s the hold up?
Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.
He's a project
Even with Jax he never really produced. Somebody will sign him in the off-season an give him a shot.

I think teams are scared...
he still has the unresolved cocaine charges. That and I thought he had a reputation for having a bad work ethic.

I guess the cocaine charge was pretty much wiped off his record...
but he still has a history of questionable judgement.

Hmmmm a 1 year contract for 1.5 and he is free to go elsewhere...
or a 4 million 3 year contract? So there is more to letting him pass through waivers than just money.
Hank Baskett is a major upgrade over Cooper, and has as much talent/potential as Mark Bradley. I for one hope that he gets signed.
IF
He and his playboy Model Wife “Kendra” were to join up. Would we not have the elite hot Wives club in the NFL?
