Brandon Albert?
Anyone else surprised he has struggled so much?
I did not think he looked very good in the pre-season or yesterday. It is early so I am not freaking out but long-term he might need to go to guard or RT...which would mean drafting a LT in round 1 next year.
It might just be because our whole O Line is a mess but I was hoping our left side would be amazing.
Lets hope we get some help but at this point there is not much available so we might have to make this group work.
Thoughts?

He will be fine
He has struggled a bit but give it time hes one of the solid points on our oline…now the real question is will we offer Runyan a contract?
lets hope Runyan or Walker.
We need an answer at RT and I hope they sign Walker for at least a one year deal so we can draft about 3 OL early next year.
As much as I would love to draft Eric Berry (he is the best player in the draft from what i have seen) we will be stuck drafting need with RT, RG, C and NT.
Taylor Mays > Eric Berry
Aint got a beach and I see no mountains, landlocked loungin' in the City of Fountains.
No...
Mays is just physically more gifted. Berry is the true playmaker.

Id be okay with Okung or Ciron Black :)
If we stick to the LSU connection look for black to be in red next year if we cant win some games
I agree we'll either need to draft and pick up through FA a RT, RG, and C
But NT? sure we need some depth, but I thought Tank was one of the few Chiefs defenders that had a solid day.

Tank was one of the few bright spots on the defense.
He was pushing them around in the middle. Isn’t that supposed to make the rest of the D-line perform better? I mean, if he was getting a big push and Dorsey and T-Jax still sucked, maybe those two are actually worse than we thought. Or, maybe the O-line was allowing Tank to get the push up the middle so they could focus on neutralizing Dorsey and Jackson? If THATS the case, why didn’t our LBs shoot through those gaps real quick and get the pressure we so desperately needed?

i think
tank and Dorsey played well
T Jack didn’t have a great game
Mays didn’t have as good of a game as he did in the preseason
coverage was the biggest issue, along with pressure.
Flowers being back will help

I don't know about Dorsey...
It seemed like every time I focused on him, he either didn’t get his motor started until a second after the ball was snapped, or he couldn’t get any penatration at all. Some of the “playes” me made…he couldn’t get off the blocker and the RB just ran into him.
Once again, I’m certainly not ready to give up on the kid, but he looked pretty bad from what I saw.
Jackson just looks like he’s a step slow out there. Sure it’s just his first game as a professional and it’ll take time, but rookie Oher owned him this game.

Agreed
Dorsey played well. T-jax looked terrible. First game rookie year for a DT/DE, I’m ok with it. For now.
Braccae illae virides cum subucula rosea et tunica Caledonia-quam elenganter concinnatur!
I'm hearing alot of "dorsey played well"
I must be wrong since I’m in a clear minority here. Ill have to watch the game again if NFLN cares enough to replay it. Watching it live it looked like he was slow and weak compared to their LT.

I thought Dorsey played well.
T-Jax dis appeared. No tackles, he got owned, nobody can say that oh he is a rookie because he was going up against a rookie. Dorsey got pentration of 3 or 4 plays. Tamba on the other hand played awesome, I cant beleive people arent giving him credit. I thought he improved alot against a good LT, a sack a strip. Brandon albert really let us down though. I think he needs to be moved to LG or RT and we need to sign Levi Jones or Jon runayn. I think our line would be better then it is now. Move Albert to LG and put Waters at C.
I agree....
I was watching Albert alot yesterday. Several times he was just pushed out of the defenders way like a rag doll. I was not impressed. I still have alot of confidence in the kid, but he has to play better than he did yesterday.

He is ok
Most offensive lineman will struggle against the Ravens and he is still young. He is adjusting to a new offense and a new playing weight. I think we will see him get stronger as the year goes on.
Also when your other lineman are so bad teams are going to attack you more. He and Waters needs some help.
D-Bowe, Mark Bradley, Bobby Engram and Turtle. Four Chiefs WRers. 4 Pro Bowlers.
I agree somewhat.
I assume they are sliding protection the other way on every play and that Albert and Waters are left 1 on 1 all day with not much help from TE and RB on most plays. I was suprised that he struggled, but I think he will be okay.
The O-line was totally out matched yesterday.
The next couple of games will be a better measuring stick.
That said, I hope we bring in some talented linemen this week as well
On a blocking note
did you guys see that great block Larry made on the Ryan TD pass? There was a blitzer (LB I think) and Larry stood right in front of Brodie and stood the guy up.
No block, no TD. Got to give Larry some credit there. He is playing hard. Especially since he usually sucks at blocking.
D-Bowe, Mark Bradley, Bobby Engram and Turtle. Four Chiefs WRers. 4 Pro Bowlers.
I did see that block....
I was pretty sure it was Larry, I couldn’t catch the number on the replay (for some reason) but I was impressed. Good block.

I am watching the rewind right now
That 2 nd play of the game when Larry got hit in the backfield on the pitch by Ray Lewis…was all on Rudy. Lewis blew right by him.
We really need a better C.

rudy gives up a lot of leverage guys get under him and blow by him

OL Play
yes, the Ravens are very fast on defense, and the Chiefs got beat with speed a few times…but I still think the OL’s biggest problems are related to communication and assignments.
When the Chiefs blitz against Baltimore, their OL and backs seemed to know exactly who to block, and got the job done. When Baltimore sends unexpected blitzers/pass rushers, the Chiefs OL seem to be confused and lost.
To me, that means that the players on the OL may not be as bad as people think, but their communication and scheme are the issue at this point. I believe this will get better once they play together for a while… but the coaches need to work with them on protections… OR simplify the scheme a bit.

First off last year we were in spread all game long it was a major crutch for any oline
by time the oline has to block the ball is released makin everyone one look good on the oline. Now that we have a normal offense true colors are going to show . I thought the oline made a huge stride personally brodie had time to get rid of the ball he didnt scamble much . and we played arguably the best defense in the league . WE just need more reps more practice and we are good to go.
