Colin Brown to have Knee Surgery
I have heard from a person who is close to Colin Brown that he is going to have knee surgery soon which explains his placement on IR. Assuming my source is correct, which I believe is a family member, this would dispel the theory that Pioli placed Colin Brown on IR just to prevent him from getting taken on waivers. Colin Brown is actually injured however I do not know that the surgery is season ending but considering it is knee surgery it probably is season ending.
Putting Colin Brown on IR without an injury would not be a very smart move to just keep him from being taken via waivers on another team. On IR he is unable to practice, obviously, but also cannot attend team meetings yet still gets paid. The only thing he can really do is rehab and use the workout facilities. Plus his chance of being taken off of waivers would be pretty low considering he didn't show up very much in preseason and was a surprise draft pick as it was. However it would not be completely outside of Pioli's realm to put him on IR for a 6-8 week knee injury in which he would miss most of the season anyway.
This is my first post so some may not find this very credible but it is important information I thought worth sharing with everyone. I am an avid reader just not an avid commenter here on AP. AP is awesome and I enjoy reading it all the time so keep up the great work!

Thanks for sharing!
I’ve been poking around at a few of his former MU teammates and hadn’t been able to get much.
He’s definitely done for the season…when the Chiefs placed him on IR it effectively ended his season so I imagine they figured it to be fairly lengthy.
And welcome to AP!
Yeah I wasn’t very clear there. The IR tag definitely ends his season. The question could still be though is how serious the knee injury was. If it was an ACL tear, he would definitely be done for the year; however, if he had a bad MCL sprain or something in which he was out 6-8 weeks, he still could have been able to play this year but Pioli could have put him on IR because of the fact that he would have to play catch up and take up a roster spot while healing.

WAY TO GO ...........
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CHIEFS !!!!!
That sucks.
The thing about it is Colin probably would have been really good. Knee Surgery usually messes up peoples careers. Sadly, he was just starting his.
Good post
Thanks for passing the info along.

Thx, Mizzou.
I was among those speculating that it was just “a tactic.”
Here’s to a speedy recovery after hopefully minor surgery.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
Thank you for the info ... and I would most certainly hope that Pioli wouldn't
use a “tactic” such as placing a “marginal” player on IR when said player wasn’t actually hurt
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!
Good for Brown
When I heard he went on IR, i was pretty surprised. I hadn’t heard much about his injury (just found out it was his knee).
Question for anyone who knows: When exactly did he injure his knee?
I’m afraid I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, if you will, so now I’m afraid I have something of a mess on my hands. -Arrested Development
