Arrowheads and Salary Caps??

Whatever happened to the whole Arrowheads on the helmet story? Well, it apparently fizzled away into the mists at the end of training camp. Is the salary cap story the same? I don't understand this. We have read time and again that the Chiefs have enormous room under the salary cap with which to sign players. Not only that, but we have so much room that we are, in fact, below the minimum allowed salary. And? So? WTF? Again, nothing. I have been assuming that this meant we would need to spend some real money acquiring players to fill the many holes we still have on this team. And yet, here we are on the eve of the season and apparently remain under the minimum salary. How can this be? Is the minimum salary myth? Why are the Chiefs, and the Chiefs alone, apparently allowed to enter the season with less than the minimum salary? Why are we not signing players?

Sorry, I actually had “returns” in the text for readability but SD Nation apparently scrubs them out.

Hopes fade once again from blue to red. Go New Chiefs!!

You can use < p > paragraph in here < / p > tags in FanPosts.

I’m pretty old-fashioned. I always have to re-read the style tips, because the newfangled way is harder than just using the old tags. But then I can type < a href = " liahfoieo h " > < img src = " " > < / a > pretty fast.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

So what you're saying is KC's prob'ly gonna sign somebody.

Wouldn’t it be cool if earning an arrowhead came with a big fat bonus?

The winning your Arrowhead thing

was a good idea poorly implemented.

I would imagine that if the Chiefs are under the cap...

they would lock someone up, instead of sign new guys. Im not sure there are a lot of guys out there that are worth signing, Jeff George maybe?

All this salary cap space was making me hope we would land Haynesworth, but obviously that didn’t happen

Who would they lock up though?

Derrick Johnson is the closest, but he’s in the dog house right now and unless he improves on his past play, I honestly don’t see Pioli signing him just for the sake of filling up cap space.

if we are under the cap they can just restructure some deals and give some players a litle more of the guaranteed money this year.

Didnt~

know there was a MIN. Salary~ just a CAP!

The Chiefs last time I knew were quite a bit under that cap, Ifn I remember right it was close to 23 million under the cap~

Now one way to look at this if this is true, which I think it is. Is that we are going into a UNCAPPED year next year and will have that extra money to spend to get the players THEY want~ Also we can use it to extend the ones we want to keep~.

I think the godfather ( Pioli ) knoweth what he is a doing~

From what I have read on this site

there is a salary minimum also. I simply don’t know the rules so assumed that we’d need to solve our problem of being under the minimum BEFORE the season started. I guess not.

Minimum cap

oh no the league will slap our wrists and fine us a little. I think the league is probably conscious of the economic climate and is very wary of forcing teams to spend money frivolously and will probably look the other way.

I believe the minimum is some percentage of the maximum like 85%.
