AFC East Breakdown: Best Players

I'm going to talk about the AFC EAST tonight. I'll select who I think is each teams best offensive player, defensive player, what rookie I think will make the most impact on both sides of the ball, and most underrated player that WILL make a difference.

Jets:

-Offensive Player: Alan Faneca. You don't go to 8 Pro-Bowls and help out a Super Bowl bound team and end up winning it all. He has always been a force. He is getting old but hardly lost a step.

-Defensive Player: Kris Jenkins. Not too many on this defensive squad stick out. Jenkins has always been pretty consistant. Seems he plugs up a lot of blocks and helps out the younger players.

-Offensive Rookie: Mark Sanchez. Well, he is their starting QB. Although I don't think he will make an immediate impact he will get better over time. I think the Jets made the right move. He could turn out to be the next Ryan Leaf though.

-Defensive Rookie: Jamaal Westerman. He was undrafted but he is a big guy with some decent speed. Will be solid on special teams. Help out this aging LB core.

-Underrated Player: Brad Smith. He is better than what everyone thinks. Coming from Mizzou we should all remember him. I expect him to have a decent year.

Patriots:

-Offensive Player: Tom Brady. I don't think anyone will dispute this with me. I really don't need to say much except he is one of the best to play the game.

-Defensive Player: Derrick Burgess. He made two Pro-Bowls with the Raiders. Imagine what he can do with a solid defense around him. He'll do good things here.

-Offensive Rookie: Sebastian Vollmer. This guy is a beast and can hold his own. Will see him play if the line is injured or in rotation.

-Defensive Rookie: Darius Butler. Will be a solid special teams player. Has some decent speed to get down the field. Won't play much but when he does I expect some good things.

-Underrated Player: Jerod Mayo. Even though he had a GREAT year last year you still don't hear much about this young Linebacker. He'll be a force if he stays healthy.

Bills:

-Offensive Player: Terrell Owens. He is getting older but can still catch the ball. If he doesn't disrupt the team off the field the Bills will do better. Him and Evans might be a force this year.

-Defensive Player: Kawika Mitchell. I actually like him when he played for us. He has lost some speed and getting older but is solid for this team. Let the flaming begin.

-Offensive Rookie: Andy Levitre. He is starting at LG for this team. I don't expect him to give up too many sacks but He won't be explosive his rookie season.

-Defensive Rookie: Aaron Maybin. He is a big guy that can tackle well. He will play on special teams and work his way to the starting job.

-Underrated Player: Trent Edwards. He is a lot better than he lets on. If he works on his accuracy and judgement he'd be a whole lot better for this team. I think he'll do better this year. 22 TD's 14 INT

Dolphins:

-Offensive Player: Chad Pennington. He put a new spark into this team and they did great coming off of a disappointing season. He'll do even better this year.

-Defensive Player: Joey Porter. What can I say besides he has proven his self to be one of the best in the league. Been to 4 Pro-Bowls and won a Super Bowl.

-Offensive Rookie: Patrick Turner. Seems like a diamond in the rough. He'll be used on special teams and 5 WR sets. We'll see if he can develop.

-Defensive Rookie: Vontae Davis. He is a fast young guy that seems motivated. They might play him in the nickle a lot this year like we do Leggett. Look for his name to be called a lot when he is in. Sean Smith another CB is listed a starter but I don't think he'll have as big of an impact. Maybe He'll prove me wrong.

-Underrated Player: Jake Long. People seem to still not give this kid the respect he deserves. This kid is a beast and will only get better.

I'll preview the AFC South tomorrow. Have fun reading and commenting below. Go Chiefs!

Sanchez

When you compare him to Ryan Leaf I hope you only mean in terms of the possibility to be a bust. I’m not sure anyone can come close to Ryan Leaf’s abilities as a pure dickhead.

Hopes fade once again from blue to red. Go New Chiefs!!
