I'm 18 and have been a chiefs fan since i started seriously watching football around 2000 / 2001. I started around when the stage of Vermeil, Trent Green, Priest Holmes, Tony G, THE LINE and no D was getting underway. So i grew up and watched that team go from a non contender every year to maturing and having that huge 2003 season we all remember. I'm sure i'm not the only one that felt something special during that season only to have the colts and our D to put a stop to that one. Thats when the chiefs reached the peak of that stage. From then on there was the constant injuries by Priest. Trent getting KO'ed and never being the same again. Brodie Croyle being picked to be the savior of the franchise. LJ being unstoppable for 2 years but then dissappearing for the next 2. So what we have seen these past 2-3 years was just a transition into the next stage. Ths stage consists of Pioli, Haley, Cassel and co. I think that this will be one of the great stages in kansas city chiefs football if not the greatest. With a true franchise quarterback in Matt Cassel who hasnt even reached his prime yet and a rock solid front office that is setting a rock solid foundation for many years to come, I see nothing but good things for the chiefs in the future.
This is the most excited i've been to start a season a chiefs fan since i can remember. It's gonna be an interesting year but a great year to kick off the start of the next stage of kansas city chiefs football. I'm new to AP but i think it's just gonna make this next season all the more better.
