Back for the Chiefs afternoon session are two defensive starters: DE Glenn Dorsey and ILB Derrick Johnson.

Need to find out how Dorsey will play in the 3-4

Chiefs coach Todd Haley spent extra time with the receivers again and admonished WR Dwayne Bowe for how he ran a pass route.

I have a funny feeling that admonishing is a very understated word.

Guard Edwin Harrison was released which means the Chiefs are back to 81 roster spots. Harrison sat out multiple practices (including 8/1 and 8/3) so his release shouldn’t come as that much of a surprise.

Not practicing with the Chiefs on Tuesday were: RB Kolby Smith, TEs Brad Cottam and Tony Curtis, LBs Demorrio Williams and Wes Dacus, Gs Edwin Harrison and Wade Smith and S DaJuan Morgan.

I guess Bob needs to log in here so he can keep more up to date on who is with the team. Unless of course Harrison is over in the rehab area and he’s looking at him. But I haven’t seen any official announcements of roster moves yet.

Chiefs K Ryan Succop hit 3 of 4 FG attempts. His kick from 40 yards was blocked, but he hit from 31, 33 and 37 yards.

3:46 PM – A pretty competitive 11-v-11 period has concluded. LB Corey Mays got some time with the first-team defense with LB Zach Thomas on the bikes today and has some good pop with lead blockers and ball carriers.

Chiefs ILB Zach Thomas isn’t taking part in the teamwork portion of practice. Corey Smith is working with the first-team defense.

3:55 PM – Today’s point of emphasis in situational work was clock management while nearing field goal range with no timeouts.

New Chiefs WR Amani Toomer made a nice leaping catch along the sidelines on a hot, high throw from QB Ingle Martin.

Nice to see that he does something good in his first practice. He still has to win a job, but this is certainly better than being bitched at for dropping the ball.
