Solution to O line problems solved here!
Right now, everyone on that line is out of sync, and sooner or later Brian Waters will be considering hanging up the cleats. Let's take a look at the positives and negatives.
The Positives- Brandon Albert. Albert is big, strong, flexible, and can play either Left tackle or Right tackle. The next positive is Brian Waters, for reasons I shouldn't have to list.
The Negatives- Mike Goff, Rudy Niswanger, Damion Mcintosh. Goff is past his prime and slow, Niswanger isn't built to play center. Mcintosh isn't buying into Todd Haley's new system and is frustrated on the right side.
Now, for the solution. It's not as impossible as you think, but it does take at least one more draft. We need to draft either a left tackle. That way we can slide Albert over to Right Tackle where he played some in college. That solves the two ends. Waters is still there at Left Guard. Then we can either pickup a solid center in free agency, or draft one. Then we can take Niswanger and place him inside on Right guard where he's most productive. His size benefits him in that position. The line will look like this from left to right: LT, Waters, C, Niswanger, Albert. Waters can be replaced hopefully by a developed player like Herb Taylor or one of the new guys Andy Alleman or Ikechuku Ndukwe. I don't include these guys because I haven't seen enough tape of them to realize their potential. As far as I see it, both of those players upgraded the line last night and should have started. Ndukwe outplayed Mcintosh by a long shot. Now there are other ways to do this, like leaving Albert and drafting a RT, I'm trying to start some debate here.

thats dumb to move him…if aint broke dont fix it..he protects the blind side of cassel leave him there…next year in FA grab a C or G or both…then with the first pick draft either a lb..or wr or watever..and our two second round picks need to be used on the offensive line! but leave brandon there!
agreed
no reason to move Albert, he’s more of a LT or LG than he is a RT
Draft a bulldozer of a RT in round 2 next year, and a C in round 3.
done
"I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
Maybe even trade outta the 1st, entirely,
and pick up some insurance in the 2nd and 3rd rounds on o-line.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
Much better
if we end up drafting fairly high again Please don't let it be another top-5 pick! trade out of it and take more first-day talent for less money. We gotta start building some depth too.

I agree
He is holding up his end. He may not be a Willie Roaf right now, but give him time.

Just to point out ...
If he’s on his ass, that means he’s getting hit from the front (ie: the right side). If he were on his stomach, he’d be getting hit from the back / blindside / Left.
The left side isn’t the issue. The left side is solid. Give Alleman and Ndukwe a chance at the right side; if that doesn’t shore it up, get a RT in the draft next year that can fix it. God knows if it doesn’t improve, we’re going to be picking top 5 again and there should be some decent ones available that high …
Corrections
Goff & Niswanger are buying into Haley’s system & Albert played left guard in college.
Thank You Carl Peterson for drafting Dustin Colquitt

we need to invest a some picks in our oline
and if we can find a diamond in the ruff along the way when the cuts come out im all for that as well
FOUR F'S FIND UM FEEL UM FUGUM FORGET UM.
Albert didn't play RG in college, he played LG.
And he played two games at LT filling in for their starter.
We need RT somehow and we need it now not next year...
Even to run a functional offense this year we need a RT and we dont have one. Brown might get there in a couple years but we need an option now. Ndukwe wont be that guy hes not mobile enough and Alleman wont be either. Lucky for us 600+ players will be up for grabs over the next week and maybe there will be something there.
"Success is never ending, failure is never final."
Cassel will be dead by the next draft
pick up levi jones and mark tauscher, let them get used to the system tell week 3 when cassel comes back. then the line would look like this from right to left, Levi jones brandon albert, waters, niswanger, tauscher. I think that would at elast get us through this year, i know if its not broke dont fix it but the line as a whole is broke and this would give a better line as a whole
+1
Tauscher is a guy id like to see in here. One of the better RT in the league, had surgery but isnt “injury prone” and has just been recently cleared to practice with contact. Bring him in and take a look.

hmm
Why draft a rookie Tackle and put him at LT. when we have a good LT right now?. Wouldnt we want the more experienced to block our QB’s backside?
with this OL
we may end up with a top 10 pick again this year. We will trade down and end up a late first and a few 2nds to play with next year
solution
not bad…I am for anything after paying and watch this crap for the past 2 seasons…

How about
we give our o line more of a chance than three pre season games. For goodness sakes people we haven’t even given Ndukwe and Alleman a fair shot at filling in one of the right side slots and were already talking doom. Lines aren’t based solely on talent, it’s the chemistry that makes o lines great.
Cassel is out for four weeks and we have a QB that can run for his life until then. Hopefully the waiver wire is kind to us or our resident offensive linemen step it up. Don’t underestimate Bill Muir he’s a solid O line coach.
And your suggestion with Albert only works if were drafting top 5 again. Otherwise a second or third round prospect shoud suffice. Don’t anyone forget we have Colin Brown. Whether it’s at RT or RG Brown is going to contribute some time or other
Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.
brown looks like hes going on the practice squad. And ndukwe and alleman dont look like there starting material, i might be wrong but i dont think parcel would give up two starting lineman

who knows
Miami has their starters in place… those guys could end up starting here at some point

* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
