Another practice under way!

We’re under way for #2 today. It looks like we’ll have to wait another day for LB Derrick Johnson to return to this defense as he’s in short and working in the "rehab zone." Just like the first set of doubles, the guys are in shells for this afternoon session.

Aah, the feeling of the season getting closer!!

Man our softball team felt like the Chiefs of last year, last night, we were spanked very badly. I still have a bad taste in my mouth, I am ready to get back out there, hopefully some of our guys that were here last year still have that feeling, and are ready to smash some people!!

5:00 PM – Another new element for 2009 just brought to my attention: all offensive and defensive linemen wear knee braces on both knees for practice. This doesn’t appear to be optional and should cut down on knee sprains we’ve seen, such as what happened with DT Glenn Dorsey and T Damion McIntosh the previous two camps.

In a pass-protection drill with running backs blocking linebackers, RB Larry Johnson was impressive in handling the rush. That’s been a problem for him during his career with the Chiefs.

5:49 PM – "I’ve saw a lot in 15 years, but I’ve never seen that," Kendall Gammon on a unique QB drill going on. We’ve seen the trash can in the back of the end zone for QBs to target, but we haven’t seen two trash cans stacked on top of one another in the back corner as a target. That was the aiming point today and QB Ingle Martin sunk it from 30-yards out. He received a "standing O" from the crowd and a thumbs-up from O.C./QBs coach Chan Gailey.

Sounds like the boy opened some eyes!
