What's your favorite team other than the Chiefs?

Ok, I know that it's blasphemy to suggest that you like any team other than the Chiefs, but I'm curious and looking for some conversation - what's your favorite team other than the Chiefs? I have to admit that I have a soft spot for the Eagles - McNabb is one of my favorite players (although I have honestly no idea why), and their defense under Jim Johnson (RIP) was always incredibly entertaining to watch.

So what's your favorite (non-KC) team?

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

I'll be rooting for the Vikings this year

I also found myself becoming a Arizona fan last year during their playoff run. I guess I’m just a sucker for old “washed up” QB’s like Favre and Warner. That being said, the Chiefs are by far my favourite professional sports franchise.

for my second best team, i fallow the bills cause they are near but it actually goes with the player’s into it. brett favre is my favorite so packkers are high for me, but i’ll cheer for the vikings this winter.

so if we talk about team i hate the most, Raiders are on top of the list, fallow nearly by colts biatch. i hate the raiders since rich gannon and is brown earpads. colts been our beast in playoff for a couple year’s now. anyway as chiefs fan i’m sure you feel the same

But it is more about the teams I hate. Let’s see, it starts with the Broncos, Raiders, and Chargers (lesser of those evils IMO), and then is followed with my acute regional hatred for the Dallas Cowboys. If I hear “How ’bout them Cowboys” one more time…

I’m a Chiefs fan through and through. The only time I root for another team is when they are playing a division rival or the cowboys. Even when two division teams play each other I root for the one that will either help the Chiefs or else I root for a tie game with key injuries. I saw the movie Black Sunday when I was young and have always thought it might be good for the Chiefs if a blimp crashed into a raiders chargers game. and took out both teams. But I’m a sick puppy that way.

I kind of like

The Steelers and Packers and Giants (used to include Redskins but no more), mostly because I just tend to like their style of football (or at least my perception of their style) – sort of old school, strong lines, strong running game, defense, tight ends (shut up, I mean the position). Hoping that the Chiefs are going to be this style – although I guess the tight end isn’t really going to count for us.

I also follow the Jax Jaguars because I lived there when the expansion happened and followed the whole selection process and everything so have a sentimental connection. I was actually already gone by the time they actually started playing.

I loved the 49ers in their dynasty years because being a Husker fan I loved them due to Roger Craig and Tom Rathman. That team was just so awesome but don’t pay any attention to them anymore.

Hopes fade once again from blue to red. Go New Chiefs!!

between 1979 and 1995

my father, grandfather, and i didn’t miss one home game at arrowhead, including playoff games. not one. we were season ticket holders when you could get 10 tickets for 5 dollars and the upper bowl was ALWAYS empty. my grandfather passed away the spring of 1996 and my father soon followed.

i left KC in 1996 to go to RISD. i got my degree, got involved in some pretty bad things, and lived on the streets for awhile. i met a girl, she helped clean me up, we fell in love, and i followed her back home to Berkley, CA. we were married and had a son.

now, we live in Oakland. since 2002, my son, his grandfather, and I haven’t missed a Raiders home game.

i love the Chiefs because it was three generations of my family, even when there was nothing to cheer. we could laugh, talk, learn, etc.

i love the Raiders because it represents three generations of my family, through my son’s eyes. these games are always rowdy and passionate, but we still find the time to laugh, talk, and learn.

well...

it can be hard, sitting in the stands right now, watching New Orleans dismantle the Raiders, watching the D-Line give up 5.4 yards a carry…LJ is going to eat this defense alive when they show up in KC. my guess, KC will put up close to 600 yards offensively against this D, 275 of which will be on the ground.

by bansky on Aug 29, 2009 4:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Nearly all of them

The Chiefs RULE my fandom, but I’ve always kind of “ranked” the teams in my heart. I have my most liked and most hated, all the others fall somewhere in between;

Most liked;
Chiefs
Niners
Chargers
Cardinals
Bucs
Raiders*

Most hated
Raiders*
Broncos
Bills
Cowboys
Rams
Giants

*Before you crucify me about this, let me explain. I will LOATHE the Raiders as long as Al Davis is alive, but in a very twisted way I kind of appreciate the fact that the team, its players, and its fans ALL mirror the “Raider” mystique. They are true to their image. When Al dies I will once again have a bit of a soft spot in my heart for this band of misfits.

When ever a team does something great, like coming out of nowhere and going to a Superbowl (Cards) or suspending a big-mouthed diva receiver for a season (Buc’s with Keyshawn) they rise a little in my ranking. Whenever a team does something bad, like losing multiple Superbowls in a row (Bills) or allowing every shit-head player in the NFL on their roster (Cowboys) they drop in my ranking. I also tend to root for teams with players I like. especially any team with a former Trojan. I hope the Jets do well this year with Mark Sanchez although I didn’t want to see him on the Chiefs…He’s over-rated and therefore not good enough for the Chiefs :-)

I guess I’m just a FOOTBALL fan in general. I enjoy watching as many games each week as possible, regardless who is playing and I always figure out which team I want to pull for.

I’m very curious to see if LA ever gets an NFL team again and if so who it will be. If its a new team, I’ll probably be on board, if they relocate a reject, I’ll stick with the Trojans to fill me desire to go to an occasional game. (Although I try to go to San Diego to see the Chiefs as often as possible)

I can’t imagine I’m the only one who looks at football this way, I’m sure there are more of us. I do REALLY appreciate any fan who has only ONE team and nothing else matters although it probably makes the other fifteen games each week kind of boring.

this may sound strange, but

I was(and still am) a HUGE Bo Jackson fan. In my younger years before I realized the virtues of loyalty, community & local support, I was a Raiders, yes, a Raiders fan. Then Bo got hurt, and everything changed. All of a sudden the Chiefs started appearing on local(Springfield, MO) television, and this big beast of a man was plowing over defenders with crushing force. That man was Christian Okoye, and after watching him, and watching DT setting the record for most sacks in a game, I became a Chiefs fan and have never looked back since. All other NFL teams and games are meaningless to me now(unless they effect the Chiefs somehow), but if I’d have to pick a favorite non-Chiefs team, I’d have to say the Eagles because of Buddy Ryan, Reggie White, Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, etc….now they have Vick and Jeremy Maclin, and I’m a huge Mizzou guy, so the Iggles have my vote as 2nd fave(right now)

I am like a few of you...

I have certain teams I like to cheer for…it really usually changes based on each game…What is on the line? What players are on the teams? and so on…

I am a weird football fan…

My Two Favorite Teams...

are the Chiefs and whoever is playing the Dolts, Gayders, or Donkeys…

Put this in your pipe and smoke it:
1. Chiefs will be at least 8-8 and vie for division champs
2. DJ will break out and finally have his year
3. LJ returns to form
4. DBowe drops will reduce

Any team

playing against the Cowboys or Steelers.

+1 on anyone against the Cowboys

Hate the Cowboys. People want to like them because they think the are consistently good. Check the last 10 years records vs the Chiefs last 10 years records. You may be surprised.

Used to be the Steelers...

But I found myself rooting against them last year because they have won enough at this point. Still looking for a second favorite… Maybe the Ravens?

I really hate the fact that they get labeled "Americas Team"

That just pisses me off. I live in America and they aren’t my freakin team!

Yeah....

shouldn’t the “Patriots” be Americas team? (Make sense to me)

Of course the Indians were here first and WE ARE THE CHIEFS!

Any team Monty Beisel is on

I played football with his dad at Tabor College (Hillsboro, KS). Monty was this little kid, 4-5 yrs old running around our legs on the sidelines at practice. LOL. His dad was a monster fullback with 33 inch thighs. Loved watching him run the ball. Glad to see Monty having so much success.

I was a Rams fan when I was growing up in CA. But didn’t follow them to St Louis. I liked the Raiders when Madden was the coach (sorry). Loved the intensity of their Defense…probably was too young to realize they were so nasty. It’s the fans (and the coaches…and the city…and…well they all pretty much suck now) that are most obnoxious there.

But I can’t say that I really like or follow any other team right now. Don’t know why I would want to.

Chiefs are the only team now as far as I’m concerned!!!

The future is ours KC Chiefs fans!!!!!

I hate every other team in the NFL except the Chiefs! There isnt any other game i turn on and say “yeah that was a good play” or “he used to play for the Chiefs good job!” NO NO NO! My wife is a Colts fan so its hard enough to listen to all her talk about Manning and the Colts! If its not the Chiefs it dont matter!!!!

Man! Never really thought about this....

but Maybe the Giants, they always have an outstanding Defense, and I like D baby!

But no question about who my favorite college football team is, THE Alabama Crimson Tide!

Chargers ><

Im an hour north of SD and I go watch Chiefs v Chargers every year. I hate them but like watching them too… Hard Knocks has actually made me a bit of a fan of Cincy too. Cha Please!

Most of you are fake...

Im a Chiefs fan, nothing else, live and die by the red and gold. When I see other Chiefs fans saying there favorite team beside the Chiefs is the Raiders or Chargers, you guys make me sick. I wouldnt even root for The Falcons if they made it to the Playoffs. I would laugh if they failed. I get so mad when anyone but the chiefs succed I pray for a horrendous career ending injury. If Tony Gonzalez was breaking one for the House on the Chiefs, I would pray his knee gave out and he fumbled. I guess im just a bigger fan than you guys,j/k

Rams

I’ve lived in STL since I was 6, about the same time the Rams came. After they won the Super Bowl in 2000 and were considered the greatest show on turf, they became my 2nd favorite team after the Chiefs. My entire family is Chiefs fans so they will always be my #1… it’s just the way I was raised. I hope the Chiefs and Rams both make a big turnaround this year.

I-70 Super Bowl would be cool to see.

I actually thought it might happen back in 2003

+1

for the sake of St. Louis, i hope a dedicated owner is found. i also wish they would change the name of the team so the team can completely belong to St. Louis. as long as they’re the Rams, IMO, they’ll always have that ghost of LA hovering over them. they also need to get out of that uninspiring warehouse and play outdoors, where football is meant to be played.

Da Bears

I lived in Chicago as a young boy during their magical 85 season. Also, ever since January when we brought in Pioli and I started dating a Pats fan, I’ve had to open up a small bit of space in my heart for them…. until we take them out in the playoffs this year that is.

For justice we must go to Don Pioli

The Pack

Don Majikowski (sp?) was really cool to me when I met him in Wisconsin when I was a kid. He was the man until he got hurt and some other guy took over for him. What was that young man’s name? Oh yeah, Favre. The rest is history. If they ain’t playing the Chiefs, it’s the Packers all the way.

Yes, I'm still alive. Sorry to disappoint you.
