Chiefs RB Larry Johnson on Broncos, Marshall: 'Hahaha'
Photo by David Eulitt via KC Star
This is why I love Twitter. Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson upon receiving the news that Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team:
Hahahahahahaa DAMN. Brandon Marshall!!!!
Couldn't have said it better.
I'm glad LJ is on our side. He also begins to pick up on a possible pattern developing in Denver with regards to potentially troublesome players:
The last qb didn't wanna be there and didn't get suspended. Made it public also. Hmmmm
Hmm is right. You should check out LJ's Twitter page here.
It's Friday. Counting down the hours....

kinda hard not to cheer for the guy
after all, I cheer when anyone tears the donkeys up, and its even better when its from within.

Poetic Justice
The trouble maker on our team laughing at the Bronco’s trouble maker now that he has been ‘reformed’ by Pioli/Haley. Its funny because I think the handling of LJ by the Chiefs could set a precedent allowing us to take Marshall if we wanted.
Dauntlessly Matriculating

Never!!!
I wouldn’t want POS on our team after what I saw on that video. Maybe we could straighten him out but, he seems like a worse diva than TO and that is really freakin bad. A guy like that has no place as a Chief in my opinion.

I absolutly think we could take marshall
but I dont think they will send him this way…he has proven ability and they know that would fix that bs quick.

I was born in 1981
which puts me around the time jake “the snake” roberts was big (or as big as you get being a wwf or wcw wrestler). Not jake the snake plumber.

one point to clarify in advance
I was not named after jake the snake roberts.

I think it's more of a problem
when you bring it on the field…

Larry stanked that last two seasons.
He definitely brought it on the field, unfortunatly after we paid him,

LJ just doesn't like Marshall
because Marshall is a Pampers guy, while LJ reps the Huggies. You gotta represent.

I love the near 180 turn from Primetime
along with most other Chiefs fans. I’ve been saying all along that if he justs keeps his mouth shut and plays ball everyone will love him again. He’s got too much talent to deny and this new coaching staff thus far appears to be heaven sent for our former 1st rounders (LJ, DJ, & Bowe)

Broncos seem to be weeding out
All of the “me first” guys. Unfortunately for them, that includes some of their more talented players.
by NESilver on Aug 28, 2009 1:10 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
It seems more like ...
The management screwed up in letting Cutler leave which left a prima dona WR as the most talented player on the team. That’s always trouble. For evidence, you need look no further than Moss in Minnesota and Oakland or Owens … well, pretty much anywhere he’s been.
This started with trading Cutler and letting him whine his way out of town. It doesn’t end until Marshall winds up somewhere else. And, unfortunately, that’ll leave Denver reinforcing the dangerous precedent that got them into this trouble in the first place.
I don’t see any way that this turns out well for them.
by JacinB on Aug 28, 2009 1:35 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
agree
The players involved are whiny, spoiled babies. But, all of this was instigated by Josh McD coming in and doing stupid things – seems to me.
However, it bodes well for us since he thought Cassel would be better to have than Cutler!
Hopes fade once again from blue to red. Go New Chiefs!!

Doing stupid things like what, exactly?
Cutler was trying to whine his way out of town before McDaniels even got there. Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but Bowlen is the one doing the trading, not Josh.
This seems to me like it was instigated by Cutler’s agent and a desire to receive a better contract than the crappy one they originally signed.
by NESilver on Aug 28, 2009 2:15 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree
I think the whole thing went to shit when Shanahan was fired, but why is McDaniels getting the brunt of the blame? Cutler whined when his O-cordinator was fired, then whined when McDaniels looked into getting Cassel. Its part of the buisness Jay, get over yourself. Bowlen is the one who traded Cutler away, and I think he got a pretty good trade out of it.
What McDaniels should have done with Marshall is different. Bowlen set a strong message that if you “whine and complain, you get your way” which put McDaniels in a shitty situation. What McDaniels should have done is when Marshall started whining is suspend him immediatly so what happened in the practice field never would have happened. When Marshall started lolly-gagging at practices and saying he couldn’t practice because he didn’t know the playbook, he should have sent him home, then and there. But again, McDaniels was put in a shitty situation from Bowlen. To me, this is all on the GM, not the coach.
And so, Craig finds himself leaping from blog to blog, striving to put right what once went wrong, and hoping each time that his next leap, will be the leap home.

OK, if so
then I stand corrected. I thought that Josh instigated the Cutler fiasco. I was not aware of the earlier stuff – or don’t recall it. However, I don’t think he is handling his team even still.

I don't think he's handling the situation great either.
He should have had his boot so far up Brandon Marshalls ass after he pulled that shit that Marshall could tie his Reeboks with his tongue.

No problem...
I’ve seen a lot of people talking on the situation claiming it’s Josh’s fault based on what they’ve read from the media. It’s just that the media didn’t bother looking into all of the facts, and so people are misinformed about the situation.
by NESilver on Aug 28, 2009 2:54 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Not necessarily.
You can argue that management “screwed up,” but I’m more under the impression that they did the right thing. Why would you want a whiner and a prima donna on your team, especially at QB? The same QB that has a losing record during his tenure there and hasn’t led them to the playoffs a single time.
Even if the move weakens them short term, it’s better for them long term. It remains to be seen what they’ll do with Marshall, but he’s not exactly driving up his market value with the lackadaisical approach he’s taking in practice. Couple that with his long list of off-the-field incidents and I find it hard to believe he’ll find that big fat contract he’s looking for from another team, who would have to be willing to trade for him at this point.
I don’t see how getting rid of your players causing problems is a “dangerous precedent” at all. This is a new regime and they’ll want team-first players. It’ll only turn out well if Bowlen is patient enough to get rid of the head cases while Josh is around, or else it’ll probably be the next coach who benefits.

Just don't know what McDaniels is doing...
The way both Cutler and Marshall have been handled is embarrassing. Moreover, getting dawkins when you already have bailey as a ‘veteran’ presence in the secondary seemed extravagant when there are serious needs elsewhere. Then the same goes for drafting moreno when hillis is already being groomed as “the” RB seemed strange again, and distinctly un-Patriots like.
Meanwhile, the defensive front is unimpressive and passing games been completely looted. It just doesn’t equal success in the modern NFL to design a team that way, at least if you want to win now.

Champ isn't really a vocal leader
And we’ve all seen B. Dawkins pregame and just how intense he gets coming out of the tunnel, the pep talks before gametime.. Champ doesn’t bring that to the field. He’s a lead-by-example kind of guy.

Pretty common for new regimes to get "their guy" at QB and RB.
I’m more of a build your lines, see if QB/RB emerge while you rebuild. When you’re set on the lines, it’s time to go after o-backfield, on the theory that (1) there’s a good chance a skill player will emerge if you use common sense in the draft and (2) there’s high risk involved in bettin’ the farm on O-backfield, when the blocking isn’t there.
That’s why I initially questioned (and still have SOME doubts) about the Cassel trade. But I’ve accepted the move, in this case, largely because Cassel has proven he can survive behind an O-line with a weak right side, and the Chiefs were BOUND to improve THEIR right side.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

Cassel and Vrabel
For a second rounder is still an incredible steal. That is a trade that you HAVE to make, striking while the iron is hot. I can’t wait to see who actually makes the team…and how many of them aren’t even here yet.
Chiefs go 9-7. LJ makes 1400 yards. DBowe makes 1200 yards. Defense #18.
