Around SBN: 2012 Budweiser Shootout Entry List Released

Thursday Night Football Open Thread

50024_jaguars_eagles_football_medium

via SBNation.com

From the FanPosts. Thanks schraggyj. -Chris

I've been around AP for a while now and there isn't really a tradition of creating an open thread for other team games, but I figured its preseason still so what the hell.  Now I'll try and tie this into some Chiefs related goodness.

I have to say that I will take our QB and WR situation over the Bucs.  I am not sure I would say that about very many teams--especially regarding wide receivers.  Leftwich reminds me of why I am tired of hearing about QB's with great arms.  It is way overrated.  Usually the really great QB's have great arms (Brady/Manning/Marino) but there are so many strong arm QB's that seem to never pan out.  There seems to be a general consensus among the AP community that accuracy is maybe the most important QB asset.

I do have a question for the AP community.  Do we root for poor Buc QB play?  The worse the Buc QB's look may equal a higher trade value for Thigpen.

Star-divide

Chris/Joel--just let me know if you want me to delete this FanPost if you deem it inappropriate.  I don't want to start a trend of having open threads for other team games every Monday and Thursday.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Since it was only a 2 minute difference,

we can consider this the Schraggy-Tomahawk Open Thread (“Schraggy Tomahawk” sounds like a completely awesome defensive formation).

Thanks for deleting yours, Tomahawk. Much appreciated.

No don't delete it!

One more post and we can get rid of “Fine, I will say it”!!!

And so, Craig finds himself leaping from blog to blog, striving to put right what once went wrong, and hoping each time that his next leap, will be the leap home.

Nice play by Crowder.

Ward is hard to track down. I think he played KCAC ball at Ottawa.

Combining the open threads

Here’s what tomahawk44 had to say in the other thread:

Hey guys anyone else watching the game? Tampa has a couple ex Chiefs Im trying to keep an eye on and see how they do. They have Jimmy Wilkerson and Ryan Sims..Yes Sims. Wilkerson already has a sack on Pennington but Sims hasnt dont much. Anyone else we would of kept Wilkerson around? I just keep hearing good things about him but would he be a fit in the 3-4 d? What are your guys thoughts?

We may get to see Connor Barth do some kicking for Miami too.

I bet he does.

He might be fresher than people think. Two years off from contact might actually do a body good.

Vick

Been in on several possessions. Lined up mostly as a wildcat QB, but also lined up in the slot. Donovan McNabb lined up wide right on one play.

Uhh….this is going to be freaking sweet!

they show that stuff in preseason to make people prepare for it

that is why they don’t hide it. that way teams in weeks one through four need to deal with it. i think that includes us.

Consistency is only a value if you are not a screw up.

by schraggyj on Aug 27, 2009 7:46 PM CDT up reply actions

Possibly includes us

Remember, as of now he’s still suspended until at most week six, at the minimum his first game back will be the Chiefs.

by Joel Thorman on Aug 27, 2009 7:51 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah.

He also lined up as the sole QB in a traditional formation a few times (McNabb not on the field). He had a few shuffle passes.

He did fire a freaking laser on one pass down the right short seam. It was the Vick type pass where it seems to actual accelerate in the air as it goes.

They had an easy schedule last year

Plus fooled alot of teams with the Wildcat, teams are going to be more prepared for their tomfoolery

Chiefs were very vulnerable to any kind of misdirection/trickery.

I think they still are.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

by YNinja on Aug 27, 2009 8:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Still the same idea

Chiefs/Seahawks would still be the first regular season game. Holy crap…I would not feel confident at all in this team right now.

by Joel Thorman on Aug 27, 2009 7:56 PM CDT up reply actions

Okay, let me get this right...

The season would start after 4 weeks of preseason…
Then would extend two weeks later than it has been…

You’d think that they would increase the number of players each team has from 53 to 58 or more so that the teams could have the ability to sustain that long of a season.

The future is ours KC Chiefs fans!!!!!

by giftedchiefsfan on Aug 27, 2009 8:00 PM CDT up reply actions

I think they would reduce the preseason to 2 games in that scenario

by craig in calgary on Aug 27, 2009 8:01 PM CDT up reply actions

That aint enough preseason...

especially for the rebuilding teams to settle into a new system and head coach.

by giftedchiefsfan on Aug 27, 2009 8:02 PM CDT up reply actions

Definitely

If they increased the season by two games you would have to expand the rosters.

Regarding your question in the FanPost

I think it’s a great idea to create a SNF or MNF thread.

I guess you can do Thursday, too, but pretty soon I’m going to have to get the dish so I can get my NFL Network.

Speaking of "Lightning in the area"

AC/DC played in Edmonton last night and it was pouring the entire time. When they started playing Thunderstruck, it started thundering and lightening…crowd went bananas. Those on here that were born after 1988, ACDC is a Rock band

I've always thought

That leftwich had something special.

I watched him when he came in for Ben in the Pittsburgh Washington game. He looked great.

I don’t think its fair to write him off because he does have a strong arm. QBs are just a position that has a lot of flare outs.

Predictions.
1. Tank Tyler will end up surprising everyone and be the anchor of our line.
"...Said he couldn't go on the American way"

by Jux on Aug 27, 2009 8:24 PM CDT reply actions

I don't mean to equate strong arm with flare out.

I just think that it is an overrated asset. I think speed is an overrated asset as well with regards to wide receivers. You need a speed guy, but I will take good routes and good breaks in and out of the routes over speed.

Consistency is only a value if you are not a screw up.

So I go buy NFL Game Rewind

last weekend because in the Chiefs/Vikings gamecenter on NFL.com, it said “Watch the full game.”

Turns out, they don’t replay the preseason games.

That sucks.

Will they do playoffs? Or is the game list trapped in a long list of terms and conditions.

That sucks

It also angers me that Sunday Ticket doesn’t offer them either. I have yet to understand why yet, especially since the cost of Sunday Ticket is nearing exorbitant.
