Chiefs Training Camp Update 8/26 PM

No Arrowheads there (Photo via KC Star)

If you hadn't already noticed, I updated the morning camp update post with a little more information.  The only nugget worth looking at is from Bob Gretz that Tank Tyler was running with the first team defense at nose tackle.

Here are a few general highlights the afternoon practice:

  • Derrick Johnson was held out of practice today
  • There was no conditioning at the end of practice which brought cheers from the players
  • Pioli, who seldom misses team workouts, was not on the field this afternoon

Very light on updates right now.  We're still waiting for Bob Gretz to file his report.  I will let you know when I update this.  Nevermind - Mr. Gretz had his up before I even posted this.

It's the Tank!!!

I hope he starts. He has so much potential. And this pretty much clarifies it. Thigen is gone before the season starts. One way or another

Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.

"I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009

Haley missed the session?

I wonder if something is brewing behind the scenes.

Pioli

Hakey would get fired if he missed his own practice

ZT Who??

WTF is up with Zach Taylor. I’ve been so hyped to see his ass play and he isn’t even in the rehab zone. This guy was getting the most lip service from Haley/Pioli at the start and has since disappeared. I’m not as worried with the way Corey Mays has taken control of the reigns, but I’m still interested to see the vet ballhawk the ball and smash some dicks in the dirt.

Put this in your pipe and smoke it:
1. Chiefs will be at least 8-8 and vie for division champs
2. DJ will break out and finally have his year
3. LJ returns to form
4. DBowe drops will reduce

Well

If Corey Mays beat out Zach Thomas for the job, it would be a good thing IMO. Get the younger guy in there earlier if he’s outplaying the older guy.

Taylor = Thomas

I'll tell you what's up with Zach Taylor.

He was the 12th president of the United States of America, that’s what’s up!

HOLLA

Dude couldn’t play WR for shit, but he had some fame on his own.

Now, Now, Now

y’all know who the hell I was talking about. But yeah, I deserve an ass-chewing for screwing that up.

So does anybody know? Haven’t heard shit…

Beisel

unless he has made some major improvments i cant see beisel in the starting line up. mabe just a last ditch before he gets traded or released

by reddad4 on Aug 26, 2009 8:10 PM CDT reply actions

Where's Beisel's weakness?

He’ll step up and square off with the RB’s. He’s great on special teams. Is it his pass coverage that lacks?

The future is ours KC Chiefs fans!!!!!

all our LB's lack pass coverage skills.

The middle of the field will be a weakness all year unless Pollard or Brown step it up

Was Beisel expected to start?

I thought he was more of a veteran leadership/special teams guy.

Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

They should cut thomas

There is no point taking Mays out while he’s on a stretch of good work. That would only hurt his upside. Plu, he’s only got about 1 year left in the tank anyway. Put it this way, if ZT was still in pro bowl shape, dallas wouldn’t have CUT him.

by TonylovesKC on Aug 26, 2009 8:56 PM CDT reply actions

He was pretty bad for Dallas last year, especially late. That’s why they cut him and went out and got Keith Brookings from atlanta to take the spot, not because they were stacked at LB. Zach looked totally done at the end of the year. Dallas’s D the last 2 weeks was embarrassing.

by dablueguy on Aug 27, 2009 12:24 AM CDT up reply actions

Zach Thomas was released because Dallas was stacked at LB.

If Thomas really is banged up, i’d imagine he’d be placed on the PUP list. I think he’s too valuable to the growth of all of the youngsters in the linebacking core. It’s very disappointing he’s banged up but i’d rather it be in the preseason then during the regular season. We still have 2 1/2 weeks before the season opener.

by cameltoeuchdowns on Aug 26, 2009 9:36 PM CDT reply actions

He can’t be PUPed because he practice a few times. He’s either cut, IRed, or kept as a reserve. Hopefully cut, so we keep younger LB’s like Belcher.

by dablueguy on Aug 27, 2009 12:21 AM CDT up reply actions

If his value is as a coach to the young LB’s, then cut him and let him help out Garry Gibbs as assistant LB coach, and let some young LB’s with growth potential take the spot.

Yeah

I’m gonna say we signed ZT about 10 years too late.

He’s a beast in Madden 10 though ;)

Penn State to Kansas City...Always a winning combination.

by YNinja on Aug 26, 2009 9:38 PM CDT reply actions

damn right

love him in madden 10. heres a little secret – switch to the 4-3, put vrabel at DE he becomes a 90 – put demorrio at OLB, zach at MLB and derrick at OLB, tamba at the other DE opposite vrabel with dorsey and jackson who if you move to DT becomes a 81 ;) let flowers carr bernard (who can lay the fucking wood with hit stick) and jarrad do the rest of the work.

Derrick Johnson has been pissing me off

To me it seems like he just has a soft spot. Doesn’t have that killer edge. He has all the tools to be great. And his comments always sound the same year after year. His fuckin tweets “feel like I am in the best shape ever” yada yada mean dick when it comes crunch time. Derrick Johnson.. GET YOUR FUCKING ACT TOGETHER.

You have just received the Amish Virus. Since we do not have electricity or computers, you are on the honor system. Please delete all of your files.

Thank thee
