Off-season acquisitions proving valuable
So far so good I think...
Ashley Lelie -- a previous three-sport standout in football, track, and basketball has yet to put up stats, but if you watched him VS the Vikings, he shows he still has that break-away speed, not to mention he runs excellent routes. He could be a game changer for us if he remains healthy.
Mike Vrabel (Mr. Do-it-all)- Right now he only has 2 Tackles (Not much PT), but has had solid coverage and pressure so far this pre-season and he provides us with leadership in that LB position, him and Cassel were simply a steal for a 2nd rounder IMO. Wonder if they will put him in on offense?!
Matt Cassel - He is 11 for 19 right now (would be better if werent for drops) with no picks and 1 TD not to mention a couple rushes for a 6.5 average lol not bad for only 2 1/2 or 3 quarters of play.
Corey Mays (my favorite acquisition) -- Has racked up 9 tackles and 8 of those 9 were solo, including 4 QB pressures and 1 pass defensed, this guy i think was a diamond in the rough for our team in this scheme. His energy is off the charts, full speed ALL day.
Mike Brown - Although Pollard is my favorite player on this team, Mike Brown has shown he could be better in coverage for us as his replacement or back-up, regardless I like what he has shown so far.
Bobby Engram and Toomer have yet to really put up much, Toomer is the only one with a reception out of the two, but they are vets and they will get balls and contribute to this team I think when the situation is at its worst. They might have the better hands on our team, 3rd downs... we need these guys
My point is I think the personnel decisions made by Pioli and the team have been very beneficial to this rebuilding process and the start of a really good team. If we address the O-line in the Draft and season to follow 2009, I think we could return to elite status not only in the AFC West, but in the AFC overall. What do you guys think?
GO CHIEFS!!!
Pollard, The Bonecrusher

I may sound like an idiot
But where did we acquire Corey Mays from?
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes; after that, who cares?! He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!
Was he
A proven player or practice squad player?

agreed
Yes, there are still question marks out there.
But, overall, I really like how Pioli and Haley are building this team.
Last year, the Chiefs had a TON of young talent, but they seemed lost and needed leaders and hard workers.
So, bit by bit, they have been filling holes on the roster with experienced, hard working leaders to complement the young base that we already had here.
My favorite signing might be Toomer, I think he brings a solid set of hands and good leadership and smarts.
I agree that the Cassel/Vrabel trade should turn out to be a steal, I really like both players.
The jury is still out on Brown, Engram and Lelie, IMO… we’ll see what they bring to the table when the first team is actually assembled and on the field in week one.
I like ZT a lot, and I’m not even worried that he’s not on the field yet. Who knows about Daniels… haven’t heard his name much at all.
Mays is definately a great surprise. I’m hoping for at least one other nice surprise to come up before the season starts.
There are a few guys that are disappointing so far… namely Sean Ryan and Mike Goff… we’ll see if they turn it around or get cut.
I’m also not sold on Copper or Wright as WR… coaches seem to like them, though.

KR/PR
I am watching the Jets vs Baltimore…
Leon Washington is the man. Watching him return kicks makes me realize even more that the Chiefs are lacking that returner that can strike fear in an opponent.
It’s amazing to watch Leon or Roscoe or Cribbs work on a return. You just get the impression that they are faster and have better vision than anyone else on the field.
They set up blocks, cut back and get up the field.
Yes, the Chiefs need to keep working on the OL… but, a game changing returner may just be at the top of my remaining wish list for this team.

Baltimore's defense is giving Sanchez fits!!!!
Our line better shape up quick.

I used to want a t-shirt that said
“We gave you Leon Washington, and all we got was this stinking t-shirt!”
yeah... that hurts
I hate the idea of trading a draft pick for a coach, anyway.
even if it was a great coach.

are you sure about that?
to quote the movie Tommy Boy…
“are you picking up my sarcasm? I should hope so, because I was laying it on pretty thick back there?”

Doesn't it though
In retrospect, Herm goes down as one of the worst coaches the Chiefs have EVER had. Nice guy or not.
THE worst coach ever.
Possibly in NFL history. Can’t back it up. Just the way I see it.
