It looks like Josh Looney at the Mothership and Bob Gretz at CBS Sports are going to be giving us our camp updates while the Chiefs are in Kansas City.

Many thanks to both men for keeping us all informed.

Today the Chiefs continued with their River Falls schedule starting at 8:50 AM.  Here are a few general highlights:

  • After being stopped on four consecutive plays at the one in the Vikings game, the Chiefs focused on goal line action
  • Tyler Thigpen practiced after having all of last week off
  • Barry Richardson was still with the first team at RT

More after the jump.

great updates

Here is my concern.

I think Leggett is one of the most valuable guys we have as the Nickel back.

I also think he shows a natural return ability.

But if you put him at PR, or at Gunner, this guy has a serious chance of getting hurt. Most injuries take place on ST(see madden 2010)

I know it sounds silly, but I would almost prefer to keep him just for his job as 3rd corner/step in if carr or flowers ever….ever…need a night off.

for the Madden 10 reference. Madden is a simulated video game. Not real football.

Now as far as most injuries taking place on ST…I dont know how accurate that is but I’m not saying its wrong either. It wouldnt surprise me.

Overall, I agree that hes a great 3rd corner and needs to focus on that for right now.

Who would have thought

that getting the ball over the line is something you need to practice.

I have to disagree

I think it’s also an overlooked item in offenses because defenses practice goal line stops as well, so the offense has to also stay fresh on it. I mean for the defense, this is the last line to prevent them from scoring. It’s never an automatic cakewalk for the offense….

Defending the short field has the greatest consequences and the D has its biggest advantage.

It’s hard for the offense and crucial for the defense.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

GEEEZE!
In goal line work, the Chiefs defense stopped the offense three consecutive times forcing two fumbles (Bob Gretz at CBS Sports)

Love the good goal line defense

Exactly. I’m tremendously encouraged by our defense, but that offense’s non-production is worrying.

Can’t win for losin’, I guess.

I don't understand this
At WR, Terrance Copper and Devard Darling were still running with the first team.

I can only defend the “they’ve worked hard and deserve a shot” so long… they have got to show something in a game, or get the F out, IMO

What is so great about Darling? He barely showed us anything last year, you dont hear much about him in camp. Hell, last time I think I remember hearing about him in camp was him getting thrown off the field. Coppers a young guy so I can see a young guy coming in and playing well and surprising everyone. But we’ve seen Darling and what we’ve seen hasnt been great.

Haley, DBowe is your most valuable WR. It wouldnt be a good idea to piss him off. I’m going to be pissed if Haley runs Bowe out of town like CP did to Jared Allen. In the end, JA didnt piss me off since we’re switching to the 3-4 but I sure missed him last year..
