Jason Babin
So Im sitting here watch the Colts vs Eagles game and Im starting to think we should of kept Jason Babin for some competition. Babin got the starting nod tonight b/c he is playing for the injured starter. Babin has made a couple nice plays including a sack of Manning which resulted in a fumble and an Eagle ball. Is anyone else watching the game? What do you think of Babin so far? Oh dang and he just laid out Painter but he got the ball out...whew too bad he didnt play in Kc like this!

always thought he was solid
not sure if he could play the 3-4
I think he’s good at the 4-3 DE spot
I’m watching the game… Peyton is sharp.
Donald Brown is going to be a stud, as well

I projected Donald Brown as the next great running back
before the draft…I’ll try to find the post…at that time, I wanted to trade LJ and draft Brown.
Marley will be walking soon...she could probably play Linebacker better than some of the guys we had.

Was just thinking the same thing.
Commented about it on the main page a couple minutes ago. Oh well…he doesn’t really fit the 3-4 scheme (The 3-4 scheme which apparently makes a lot of sense althought we don’t actually have the personelle to fill it)
And so, Craig finds himself leaping from blog to blog, striving to put right what once went wrong, and hoping each time that his next leap, will be the leap home.

3-4
I think it’s coming together… maybe they DO have the personnel to fit it!

All they had to do was completely ignore the O-Line in the draft to do it
Sorry, I’m pissy tonight for some reason

I know what you mean though. RT is a trouble spot that will haunt us all year.

No shit.
Cassel is going to get murdered week 1 vs Baltimore :(

Yeah, you better believe the Ravens will exploit that.
They will line up Suggs on that side and he will beat Sackintosh on every play. Same thing with Richardson. Neither one can get the job done.

They'll need TE help on that side.
Oh wait, we don’t have any tight ends. Shiiiiiit.

TE
we have blockers….
they may not be able to catch colds, but they can block
"I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
That's actually not true
Comming from a former LB, Id say that statement is 100% false.
A giant of a TE (tall as well as big) does not make it much harder to get through. In fact, it usually makes it easier. It’s a lot easier to get underneath a tall TE that lines up without his hand on the ground than it is to get through a more compact normal height (normal for the NFL) TE off the snap.
The question you should be asking is if Cottom is as athletic as TG is? Can Cottom get his hips turned to square out the rusher, and can he transition from forward to backward or backward to forward directionality?
Cottom is going to have to be able to square out on a power rusher as well as turn and burn to stay on the inside hip of a speed rusher and push him wide and around the pocket. All those moves will require quick feet, a low stance when needed, and great hip transition to keep his power base underneath him while executing a block.
In this particular case, size doesn’t matter.

In addition to that, Texas,
I’ve heard in several places that blocking just isn’t Cottam’s forte. In between all the worries about whether he can replace Tony G’s production, it appears that Sean Ryan is a much better blocker.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
Let's turn that statement on its ear with a question:
The 3-4 scheme which apparently makes a lot of sense althought we don’t actually have the personelle to fill it
What was it about last year’s defensive performance that made you think KC had solid 4-3 personnel?
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
And the personnel that were drafted to fit the 4-3 D the past few years did so well in that scheme
Seriously ,3-4 is a better D scheme and if the D sucked running the 4-3 how can anyone say we don’t have the personnel to fit the 3-4…….obviously the personnel couldn’t play the 4-3, unlesss 28th ranked D is having the personnel to play the 4-3
2009-10 Predictions:
1. Chiefs will win ATLEAST 6 games, which is a big improvement over 6 wins in 2 seasons
2. Succop will bring stability to the K position for the first time in years
3. Chiefs D will atleast double the number of sacks form last season
4. Cassel will be a top 15 QB
5. Todd Haley won't make a poster and jump around holding it up welcoming the Chiefs players to summer camp, I mean TRAINING camp
Yep. I am watching the game too.
Both teams look pretty good.
lots of offense
both teams could be scary at the skill positions

Eagles have the potential to be VERY good this year
So when Donovan f***’s up the playoffs because he is fat and out of shape, I’ll laugh because he won’t have any more excuses

Not really
I can remember screaming at the TV in the Superbowl for him to hurry up the 2 minute offence, but he couldn’t because he is out of shape and completely gassed. Thats unacceptable for a “top tier” professional athlete. Plus he makes to many excuses (Not enough weapons on offence…defense didn’t do their part)

Fair enough.
I don’t really dislike McNabb, just the Eagles I don’t like.

He played really well tonight. Love Babin.... wouldve been perfect for a 3-4 OLB
He was drafted as a LB also. Plus he is a WMU Bronco! Watch us beat UofM on Sept 5th.
Yeah
he did the guy was flat out getting after the QB why didnt he do that in KC! I didnt know he was drafted as a LB too thanks for the info.
The Eagles have one of the deepest Dlines in the league. That mightve had something to do with it.
He wasnt playing with Alphonso Boone, Ron Edwards and a double teamed Dorsey.

I think our defense could have been more successful if Herm had not been so conservative.
He was more into coverage schemes than anything but the problem is, we couldn’t stop the run so, teams were rarely forced to pass the ball on us. When they did, we weren’t bringing any heat and QBs had all day to throw which made our secondary less effective. I expect a more aggressive defense this season.
