15. Brodie Croyle, Kansas City -- I was at Chiefs camp on day one this summer and the conventional wisdom at that point was that Croyle was going to have to fight to win the No. 3 job behind Matt Cassel and Tyler Thigpen.
But Croyle has had a good preseason, and now there's even some speculation about whether he could wind up pushing Cassel. I don't think that happens, but Croyle looks like he's firmly ahead of Thigpen right now.

I wish we would have traded Thiggy before all of the negative publicity
he would have been good for at least a mid-rounder but now he’s worth jack squat. Great!
I shocked
no team has made a push for Jim Sorgi. he hasn’t seen much action, but his numbers are decent, he has a pedigree backing up Manning, i think if he ever got a chance, he’d be solid, maybe not a superstar, but he wouldn’t embarass anyone.
at minimum, he’s better then Croyle.
Croyle could be traded to Denver according to questionable rumor
Scout.com is saying a league source has said there is preliminary talks between KC and Denver having Croyle and a 2nd going to Denver for Marshall.
Brodie Croyle has all the intangibles and showed flashes in 2007.
Here is what I found on him before he was drafted in 2006:
Croyle has all the physical skills to be an NFL quarterback. He’s tall, he’s athletic, and he has a strong arm. He is capable of making every throw on the football field, and when he’s on, he can carry a team on his back. He has the mobility in the pocket to elude the rush and escape to find more time to throw. Perhaps most important, Croyle has the intangibles to be successful at the next level. He has a great work ethic, is tough, and knows how to rally his troops.
The two main issues with Croyle and how he projects at the next level are his lack of bulk and his injury history. At the next level, the two will go hand and hand. He has a very thin frame, and may not be able to withstand the beating an NFL quarterback takes. In his four years at Bama, Croyle has had surgery on his left shoulder and right knee. On the field, the main thing Croyle has to do is learn to take what the defense gives him more often. He has had a tendency during his career to force throws, though he has improved a lot over the course of his career.
Croyle could have a bright future at the next level. He has always had the talent, and finally came on as a senior, putting Alabama football back on the map. He continued his success this season with a solid showing at the Senior Bowl in January, and has solidified his grade on Day One. He has an outside chance at landing in the second round.
Brodie and one of our #2s for Marshall.

Oh, Please Let That Be The Case
An injury-prone unproductive QB in the final year of his contract in exchange for a young WR with a ton of ability (albeit with a very spotty off-field record)? If this trade’s being offered to them, I hope the Chiefs are jumping on it.
Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.
3. Maurice Carthon will be the most hated man on the Chiefs' coaching staff within two years.
4. Larry Johnson has already played his last meaningful game for the Kansas City Chiefs. He's gone before the 2009 season starts.
5. Larry Johnson will gain 0 yards rushing for the 2009 Kansas City Chiefs.
6. The Chiefs will go 7-9 in 2009, good for 2nd in the AFC West.
7. Ryan Succop will not perform better in 2009 than Connor Barth did in 2008.
I'll just go back to sleep
and resume my dream of being Hugh Hefner in his prime with the bunnies in the present-day, because there’s a better chance of that happening that what the Scout.com is reporting.
Herm Edwards: "There's FOUR quarters in football?!"
If that Marshall for Croyle and a #2 trade can poossibly be made, Pioli could retire tommorrow, because he’ll never make a better move than that. The possibility of this happenning is less than .0000001%, but I hope I’m wrong.
Suddently the TG trade seems even better
If he turns the second we got for TG into Marshall… come on seriously.

Moss for a 4th rd pick would be better on Pioli's resume
Than Croyle and 2nd rd for Marshall, but ‘Id be happy with that deal. Actually, I’d like to see 3 teams involved, Marshall goes to AZ and Boldin comes to KC.
2009-10 Predictions:
1. Chiefs will win ATLEAST 6 games, which is a big improvement over 6 wins in 2 seasons
2. Succop will bring stability to the K position for the first time in years
3. Chiefs D will atleast double the number of sacks form last season
4. Cassel will be a top 15 QB
5. Todd Haley won't make a poster and jump around holding it up welcoming the Chiefs players to summer camp, I mean TRAINING camp
Sounds like a good deal to me.
Lets do it!!!
I could see Croyle, 2nd, and 3rd round picks for Marshall
Actually no I can’t..No way in hell, this is a filthy rumor

he's a good player
No doubt….I’m just worried about his issues off the field.

This could happen. The Broncos are the new Raiders
Besides Croyle is the 15th best backup. Orton didn’t even make the list.
Oh, and the 15th best backup is pushing our starter. That’s not good.
is he really pushing our starter?
Cassell looked great to me in the first preseason game – it’s the receivers dropping balls that didn’t.

Media speculation not mine.
It basically means Cassell has looked terrible in practice. No chance Croyle starts though.

it means
the media doesn’t have anything else to speculate on, and they are creating a story out of nothing.
Cassel has looked fine, by all reasonable measures, as far as I can tell.
