WR D.J. Hackett to Work Out for the Chiefs?
That's the word from NFL.com's Jason La Canfora:
DJ Hackett working out for the Chiefs tomorrow, according to a league source.
Hackett was a 2004 5th round pick by the Seattle Seahawks. He spent four seasons in Seattle with 2006 being his best season to date. Hackett caught 45 passes for 610 yards and scored four touchdowns that season.
He spent last year with the Carolina Panthers, only playing in two games and catching 13 passes. He missed a lot of time because of toe and knee injury issues.
Hackett would join the Kansas City Chiefs current nine wide receivers, presuming that none of them would get cut if Hackett made the roster. He also recently worked out for the Detroit Lions in late July, in addition to trying out for the Ravens, Bucs and Redskins over the last few months.
He appears to be making the rounds, possibly looking for a better contract than what the previous teams have offered him.
Thoughts on often injured D.J. Hackett joining the Kansas City Chiefs?

Man
Baggage is not even a Matt Jones issue compared to Marvin Harrison.
Just a comment

Get some more targets for Cassel
sounds like a good option. The Lions might grab him first though
Carlos Guillen, the Latino Nick Punto
They really want the guys currently on the roster to get it right.
And they need to be ready to pull the trigger if they aren’t. At the least, this is a shot across the bows of the current WR corps. “Hold on to the ball. Keep your feet and run good routes.”

Yeah
I wonder if they’re legitimately interested in signing him now or if they want to see where he stands in case things don’t go as planned during camp.
hrmmmm?
Hey CMF, was that a shot at Herm Edwards? Like, it would be a Herminism to bring Hackett in? LOL
Put this in your pipe and smoke it:
1. Chiefs will be at least 8-8 and vie for division champs
2. DJ will break out and finally have his year
3. LJ returns to form
4. DBowe drops will reduce

I don't know
If he shows them something when he comes in, then they’ll probably do somethng. I think they’ll be looking under every rock to see what crawls out, and maybe something more impressive than a turtle will.
Chiefs go 9-7. LJ makes 1400 yards. DBowe makes 1200 yards. Defense #18.
Nah
From what I understand that wasn’t a continual problem. Definitely an important issue because it could get him suspended but I didn’t get the impression that this was some ongoing problem.
That kinda thinking will leave you with 2 guys on IR and nothing to show.

I like Hackett
He had his best year playing next to Engram, and when he is healthy (which doesn’t seem often enough) he shows a lot of ability. I for one would like the signing. It is still early enough to see if he is healthy and can integrate into the system.
one of my favorite AP responses...
“Meh”
Hackett won’t do much for this team, IMO.
I say, take a chance on Matt Jones, or sign Toomer if you want consistency.
Make room by cutting Webb and Wright…
But, I wouldn’t be surprised if Pioli doesn’t bring any more WR in…
I’d love to see Bradley, Bowe, Taurus, Q. Lawrence, Engram come together as a unit and really prove everyone wrong. This could be a deep position for the Chiefs, IF some of these guys work out.
More than likely, we’ll see some guys cut that we thought would make the team
"I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
Why is Hackett being interviewed then
Bowe and Darling, with Engram and the who is standing out?
Maybe it is motivation.

Hackett is the best fit for us of any of the WR’s out there. He basically does what Bradely does, looks good when healthy, but isn’t healthy often. Matt Jones is a drug addict that can’t catch, and Marvin is a hitman who is totally done. Hackett is good comp for Darling/Bradely, as he’s a similar player. Big and fast.
