If the "Battleship"
If Jackie Battle continues to run, and finish runs the way he did last night should he be our number one back? In my opinion he out played LJ, yes I know LJ was in in limited action, but Battle ran much harder than LJ. One play that sticks out in my mind is when Battle, and the Texans d-lineman collided behind the line of scrimmage, Battle could have given up on the play, and not taken much abuse, but instead delivered the hit that left the lineman wondering where he was. I may be a bit biased here as I do not support, or like LJ he has bullshitted this org one too many times, all we have heard is that LJ has done what is asked of him, but I did not see that same authority he used to run with, in my book same LJ just a matter of time til it shines through. It is early, but my support is behind " The Battleship" as the number one back.

he played well
as did Savage… but no way he’s #1.
He’s actually not even #2, as Charles will be making big plays this year.
Battle and Savage both seemed to make cases to stay on the roster, though… they are ahead of J. Williams, based on the first game action.

Is LJ still the number one
with the effort he put out last night? I just did not see any heart, or fire out of him.
Now hopefully this team is fun to watch again! Thanks Scott, Clark!!

absolutely
how many plays did he have?
not very many.
it’s preseason, a lot of the #1s are being rested, including LJ

I thought it was a strange showing from all the RBs...
In that they pulled LJ early and gave Battle and Savage the bulk of the carries. Charles was hardly even in the game. I think LJ and Charles were limited for the same reason Toomer and Engram were limited… coach was looking at everyone else. I thought Battle looked good also, but I wouldn’t count his performance against LJ. Not yet at least….

Surprised Charles Didn't Get More...
But Battle did show exactly what the coaches are liking about him.

That first part of the game was where we saw most of the pro set stuff.
For the first few carries, against a fresh D, LJ got positive yards, and you could see how Waters and Albert were gonna give him better and better holes on that left side as the game wore on. I saw what I needed to see of LJ. It was the other guys that needed the touches, and Battle put on a nice show.
So LJ would’ve been fine.
But I agree that Battle is quicker outta the blocks. That’s what I’ve been saying for weeks, after seeing some film on him. Glad to see that he performed as expected. Didn’t see much in the way of passes to the HB. Haley only seemed to use them in AZ as a last resort, too.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

Battle
would be lucky to keep a roster spot on any NFL team. He ran harder because he needs a job, LJ has one.
