Tony G in a Falcon Uniform
I'm watching a replay of the Falcon / Detroit game on NFL Network. It still stings a little, to see Tony G. in another uniform. They just got done interviewing him on the sidelines. He went on to say that there were no primadonnas on the Falcon team. He thinks Ryan can be a very good QB if he keeps working hard. He thinks Atlanta is a playoff team. He said that was why he left KC. He wanted to win a playoff game, and felt KC wasn't going in that direction.
I really hope they miss the playoffs, and we find a way to win our division. That would be something!
Here's to a fresh start tonight! New GM, Coach, and concept!

As long as he’s not playing against us (and he won’t be, unless we make it to the superbowl) I hope he goes all the way. If there’s one player who deserves a championship it’s Tony G.

I hope they go 0-16.
So we can get the 33rd pick in the draft next year.

I don't want this to sound mean, but.....
I think the dismal state of sports affairs in KC over the last quarter century has really caused fans to have a skewed view of the world. The last major championship a KC team won was in 1985 and before that 1970. So we’re really looking at 2 championships in the last 40 years. Granted the Chiefs have fielded competitive teams since Superbowl IV — hell, they were (technically) a playoff team very recently in ‘06. But since the teams have not really produced all that much, fans have in turn glommed on to individual players. That’s why DT’s induction into the HOF is so huge in KC — it’s the biggest football thing to happen in town in decades. Right now the Royals are (again) a complete embarrassment. Daivd Glass (worst sports owner on the Earth right now) should be ashamed of himself for putting that product on the field and then expecting people to pay their hard earned money to watch it. They have one good player. So since the team is so incompetent, the town zeroes in on Zack Greinke. Zack being on the cover of SI is the biggest baseball news in KC since David Cone won the Cy Young award, and even then that’s an individual accomplishment instead of a team accomplishment. It makes total sense that fans in KC are valuing individual players above the teams. The teams haven’t really given the city all that much to proud of.
People are going to have to stop that sentimentality when it comes to the Chiefs. They are going to cut popular players when those players are no longer as productive as their salaries. The Pats were MASTERFUL at this. They are going to do what’s best for the team and not go the King Carl route and give large contracts for players past their primes as rewards for loyal service.
Would it be great if TG were still here? Of course it would. But I think Clark’s hiring of Scott Pioli is one of the biggest coups in the NFL in several years. Keep in mind teams have been trying to hire Pioli for the past 4 or 5 seasons and Pioli wouldn’t even give them interviews. Clark getting Pioli to take the Chiefs job is a staggeringly great get. My guess is TG must be contemplating retiring in the next 2-3 seasons if he didn’t want to be here. All indications are this is going to be a formidable team sooner than later.

maybe u are right
but pioli had so much sucess in new enland that it hard to ask him to match it in kc and the fans of kc desreace a super bowls but luck will play a part in it and it will take him 3-4 years to undo all of them carl mistakes
