Haley designed the offense and called plays the last two years for the high-scoring Arizona Cardinals, but will set aside those abilities, at least to start the season. Haley reserved the right to take over later in the season but said Monday that offensive coordinator Chan Gailey would call the plays.

I'm tired of the "to accommodate Thigpen" comment.
I think the spread was implemented, because the pro set was getting QBs killed, and Thigpen was athletic enough to do something special with it. Some wrinkles to EXPLOIT his athleticism, but not to accommodate a weak player.
I don’t expect Haley to take over the playcalling unless he’s VERY unhappy with what he’s seeing, and Gailey’s seen as the reason the offense is struggling. And I really don’t expect that to happen. But if the defense is doing a solid job, I CAN see Haley taking off a few plays and brainstorming on the sidelines, like Shanahan used to do with Smellway. But I think that unity of purpose and effort amongst his entire staff is something Haley really wants and needs, so I don’t really see him giving the veteran OC a slap in the face.
