Does anyone know if there are any sabermetric-like stats currently available for football?
I'm really interested in finding some more advanced statistics for football. Pretty much the only place I've found is Football Outsiders. I know about Defense-Adjusted Value Over Average (DVOA) and Defense-Adjusted Yards Above Replacement (DYAR), but I'm looking for something more along the lines of Win Shares like in baseball. Does anyone know anywhere that has something like this? I realize football is a team sport so it can be much harder to isolate performance, but just wondering if anyone knows anywhere were people are doing this kind of statistical research. Thanks?

Thank God there aren’t more.
Trying to read some of the baseball blogs is crazy sometimes. It’s almost like those guys only like the math and have very little interest in the game itself.

I disagree...
Its almost like the lay person has very little interest in the intricacies of the game.

Completely wrong.
That’s not it at all.

I think in baseball, it's about individual efforts.
Thing about that is, they do all this analysis based on previous stats, and then somebody goes on a hot streak or goes into a slump and all bets are off. I’m not that interested in that kind of thing. But I think it’s HUGE for a good manager to KNOW that stuff AND know if somebody’s hot or having a bad day. That’s part of the beauty of the game and why you can ALWAYS debate baseball all day long (yawn) if you want to.

Yep

My crystal ball says that the Chiefs will not be drafting Aaron Curry. Their record at the end of 2009 will be 10-6. After witnessing the 2009 draft, their record will be 8-8.
