A look back (Herm years)
Every time the name Herm Edwards name comes up in a post there are a wide variety of responses. There are some that think he wasn't given enough time to do his youth movement, some think he is taking to much of the blame and others say well he did get us a lot of young talent.
I have been down on Herm since they hired him, so I decided to look back at what Herm has did while here. There were a lot of things so I just picked some other wise the article would have been pages. First we had to give up a draft pick for him, what team would give up their coach if they thought he was good. In the 2006 playoff game it was the first time a team was held without a first down in the first half of a playoff game since the merger.
In the first game of the 2007 season they lost to the Texans 20-3. It was the first time since 1970 the Chiefs lost by 17 or more points on opening day, also the first time in the decade they were held to 3 points or less on opening day. The Chiefs ended the year with a 9 game losing streak that tied the franchise record but don't worry Herm got the record by losing 3 more games to start off the next season so now the record is 12 games in a row.
In one game the Chiefs only had 127 total yards that is the worst output in 22 years.Set a NFL record of 10 sacks in a season, 11 individual players had more.Team record of allowing 332 yards rushing in a game by the Tennessee Titans. Surrendered a 21 point lead to Tampa Bay for another team record. The Buffalo Bills scored 54 points on the Chiefs for another team record. And the big one had the worse season in team history.
These are just some of the things Herm has accomplished during his time here so maybe when some people say that when we do good it is because of what Herm did for this team we can remember what Herm actually did for this team. But i do agree that everything that happened to this team the last few years is Herms fault it all started with Carl Peterson hiring Herm.

Funny.
At first I actually sort of liked the idea of Herm being the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. He had a reputation as a tough coach who got the respect of the teams he ran. I thought at first that was exactly what the Chiefs needed after having Coach Vermeil in for so long. A lot of folk are very quick to say that it was in fact the old players that Vermeil kept on staff that caused the team’s downfall. I was willing to give it a chance..I started to have real misgivings when we backed into the playoffs. But the real moment I realized that Our team was doomed with Herm Edwards running the show was the Game against Inianapolis where we lost by less than a touch down. We had the chance to walk into the locker room tied, But, Herm just elected to lay down and run the clock out. Between his obvious inability to coach a football team, and his ability to constantly throw anyone under the bus to keep the heat off himself, I was happy to see him gone.

Everyone
needs to bitch about how terrible “the era of hermageddon” was. As the OP stated, he set all kinds of records in futility for our beloved team. Most of the “close” games were only that way because of gimme points in garbage time so the score didn’t look as bad in reflection.
There’s a whole laundry list of things I could look back on and say “I told you so” to the previous GM. However, I have no pull on who does and doesn’t get hired out there. It was obvious looking at his track record of decision-making from his time with the Jets this venture wasn’t going to go over well. He was just another guy in the CP-network-of-good-ole-boys.
At any rate, he’s gone and I wish him the best of luck at whatever he does as long as he doesn’t do it with the Chiefs… Unless it’s as a d-backs coach.
My crystal ball says that the Chiefs will not be drafting Aaron Curry. Their record at the end of 2009 will be 10-6. After witnessing the 2009 draft, their record will be 8-8.
