Whoever said this guy has a problem shedding blocks..
I aint buyin it.
I could get more sacks with my sack

Highlight reels aren't going to show him getting stuffed
However, it does show his agility on a lot of those plays. He may not shed a locked-up blocker well, but he sure makes it hard for guys to get their hands on him.
I’m ecstatic to have him playing a little bit more “free” in our D.

I love it
few things are better than watching douchebags like Rivers & Cutler get hit

People get a little to caught up in what he isn't,
and forget things like a year ago when he led the league in tackles for loss. The guy can cause havoc when he’s tuned in to the game.

Does it seem like he is leading with his helmet a little too much?

Just thinkin the same thing.
He seems to get free a lot but needs to wrap up better IMO.
ZT will help him.

re: leading with helmet
DJ leads with the CROWN of his helmet, he doesn’t completely lower his head, which is what gets a lot of players in trouble.
DJ is clearly “seeing what he tackles,” which is what players are taught.

Great video!!! Thanks!
Who care if it’s 3-4 or 4-3…
Just run the 5-6 all the way to the pro bowl!
Go DJ!

you forget how fast he is until you see that video of highlights. I think he is a decent tackler. He doesn’t always take the right angles and he gets lost in pass coverage too much IMO

That's it for videos this year
Had a pretty good run I think despite the 2-14 season. Soon I’ll be cutting up the 2009 preseason! :D

Your video's are sick
Not a Ramstein fan (assuming thats the artist) but I liked how you synced DJ’s clap with the drum

I know it's a highlight video but...
I was surprised at the number of forced fumbles and interceptions. I’ve only watched it the once so far, but I think I counted like four picks and five forced fumbles, at least two of which we recovered. Pretty good in my humble opinion. Can’t wait to see some football this year!

DJ
-i rarely login… a dj video is worthy of a post-
dj cant shed blocks? the Best past rusher on the team being used wrong…
watched every game since he was drafted, dvr’d quite a few recent seasons(not to mention his college play), A Force to be reckoned with
DJ FOR PREDATOR!

Agreed
That hasn’t been discussed as far as I can remember. Excellent thought :)
Did see him rushing from the weak-side in the Video too.
There should be many Will (weakside inside LB’s available) if we can’t create one with available talent.

DJ is going to be playing inside
In the Karlos Dansby role.
Don’t worry, he’ll get plenty of sacks from that position.

We only have conjecture on that.
DJ might be the best fit as the Predator or Jack backer:)
And this is his final contract year as Jack he could be THE guy to resign next year.

We have more than conjecture
We know the Chiefs are running the 4-3 Under, and we know DJ is playing that RILB position.
The Predator has to take on left tackles and I don’t think that’s DJ’s strong suit.

Take on or evade LT's?
He seems to evade blockers on his sprint to the backfield.
I don’t think the Predator is supposed to Occupy blockers IMO :)

no
But the Predator is supposed to beat left tackles.
That’s not DJ’s game. And if he’s matched up against a left tackle on running plays, FAIL.

Again did DT make a living out of beating LT's or evading them?
Stripping the ball, Sacks, grabbing RB’s in the backfield, just General Havoc was DT.
Are you saying that DJ can do that?
You watched all the Video. So you are the expert :)
Could DJ not be the 7-tech crashing the party in the opponents backfield better than Hali or McBride?

DT > DJ
DJ has never shown an ability to set up an offensive tackle with moves and beat him consistently, and once an OT gets his hands on DJ it’s OVER.
That was not true with Derrick Thomas.
DJ is not really a pass rusher. He can beat an OT to the outside with pure speed but that’s about it. He needs to be running free. That’s why he’s playing the position he is.

Highlight Reels are fun
DJ looks like a beast. I’m getting stoked. We all know that he has games when he is there & others when he is not. This is his third or maybe fouth year, which is usually a barometer for players to determine if they have peaked yet. I swear he looked a little like DT especially when the ball was stripped from the QB. Whether he is inside or outside linebacker, he has got to be wherever the ball is. Vrabel & Thomas are rock solid but chasing the runner or receiver is a young mans game. DJ has got to be the man this year. With Zach calling the defensive plays, DJ can relax from the thinking part & instinctively freelance his skills into pursuing the ball. I expect him to have a consistent 10 sack breakout year . I rally want a Chiefs #1 pick to excel.
Is it September yet? Go Chiefs

Was that not DT?
There were games that either the scheme against or not real hungry that DT sorta disappeared.
Much More often DT was able to defeat the opponent and or disinterest. Just a thought

DJ will be the player we have expected him to be this year but...
He still needs to work on fundamental tackling, wrapping up, etc.
ZT can help him with that if anyone can.
