Three years ago today Chris started this here website. Being his brother, I was of course an avid reader but not much of a commenter. There weren't many readers (if any) or commenters (definintely not any) on July 26th, 2006 but over time more and more folks came to find out that this is where the most devoted fans of the Kansas City Chiefs are congregating.
Years one and two were fun with only a handful of devoted readers. Then Carl Peterson resigned on Monday, December 15th.
And everything changed.
Hits, page views and comments exploded. The fanbase was rejuvenated. We saw traffic that, quite frankly, we didn't know what to do with. On Arrowhead Pride's 2nd birthday, we were closing in on 500,000 hits for the life of the blog. Today, we're about a week away from three million hits. Seriously?
Ironically, today is also the birthday of Mr. Gretz over at BobGretz.com. His addition to the Chiefs blogosphere, moreso than any other, allowed us insight and commentary at levels that weren't previously there. A BIG happy birthday and thanks to Mr. Gretz for keeping us informed on all things Chiefs for the last year.
A big thank you goes out to the rest of the Chiefs blogosphere: Adam and co. over at Arrowhead Addict, the Chiefs Planet crew, Mr. Wendler over at WPI, Ryan at KCChiefsblog.com and a special thanks to the Mothership.
(And a special thank you to Ms. Primetime and Ms. Arrowhead Pride for putting up with our constant blogging.)
The Chiefs will fly up to River Falls as a team on Thursday, followed by a conditioning test on Friday and the commencement of football in pads on Saturday.
A week later, Derrick Thomas will be enshrined into the Hall of Fame. We've got some special guests lined up for that week so make sure you stick around.
It's almost here. Can you feel it?
