The Chiefs' long-time guard has not been a happy camper this offseason. All the recent losing doesn't help, and neither do reports of an acrimonious meeting with new head coach Todd Haley, after which, Waters reportedly asked to be traded.
The root of the problem, as always, is money, and since he's the best O-lineman in K.C. he can forget about getting quotes from moving companies.
Brian Waters, Chiefs G : FoxSports.com 10 potential training camp holdouts
I've never gotten the perception that this is about money. Waters received $4.5+ million in 2008 (salary + roster bonus) and is due $3.6 million this season.

He wont hold out...
Hes smarter then that and is too much of a pro for that. This story about it being about money seems way off to me and this hasn’t been suggested in any of the talk this offeseason. The writer shouldve left him off the list or stuck with the tired of losing/not happy with new staff angle.

17K a day
He’s the Chiefs union player rep and his own agent so I think he knows better…

Corrected it for you
The root of the problem, as always, is bored journos during a long off season who have nothing to write about.
Blame my wife!
Waiting until August!

I think the original report by Whitlock was accurate
And Waters didn’t respond to questions so it took on a life of its own.

The saddest part to me is
even if he plays for us this season, his heart isn’t in it. He hasn’t practiced much this offseason, so he is very possibly not in good shape, and therefore may start the season off pretty slow. He quite possibly may not be the player we all expect him to be, even if he plays.

I hope that is not the case
because if he is in bad shape and his heart is not in it and he still schooled who ever when against him at the camp he was at, that doesn’t say to much for our defense this year.
Herm is gone things are better with that one move!!

I don't think that will be a problem
He came to camp last year but has missed previous years (so he says) and still came back to be a Pro Bowler.

True
He is veteran enough that it shouldn’t affect him too much to miss the reps. I just hope he isn’t sabotaging himself, by half-assing himself (is that a word?) to a trade, or worse – cut!
I like the name change Joel, but it is hard to get used to!

He could play in a wheelchair and be better then anything else we have to replace him

I do hope you Gentleman are correct
Trust me, he is still my favorite Chiefs player until somebody else steps up and plays with the same toughness he does, so I am pulling for him to be here and play great. I just hope that his attitude doesn’t affect what happens on the field.
GB, you may be right!

Who writes this shit?
It must be Make Up Facts Day over at News Corp. Does no one check facts anymore?
Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

Yeah, this is the kind of story that just starts trouble.
Nothing good can come out of anything like this.
