Cali girl going to Arrowhead....
Ok, so I'm taking my first trip to KC in October. I'm super excited....never really left California but always swore I'd see my boys play at Arrowhead someday. That day has come. I have my flight & hotel booked, I got my tickets and I'm headed into town.....
Any advice or suggestions for things to do while I'm in KC? How could I find a tailgating party to join in? Any and all suggestions would be super helpful....
This is my dream come true! Help me make is unforgettable!

oops
I first read this as Call Girl ….
sorry!
If you are in the parking lot before gametime, I’m quite certain someone will offer you a beer and some bbq.
Come hungry!
:)

Your going to have a great time!!
Going to a Chief’s game is like going to a college game when it comes to atmosphere. The crowd is amazing, rowdy as heck and ready to party. I’d get there at least 2 hrs. before the game and plan on partying. Tons of people set-up bbqs and have plenty of beers. I always sneak in a 1/2 pint of peppermint snaupps to keep the cold at bay :P Make sure and wear plenty of red ….. I love seeing the sea of red around the stadium. Other than that … just have fun and plan on being hoarse from all the yelling and cheering you’ll do. When it gets closer to game day post on here again you should be able to hook-up with some people for a little tailgating.

oh yeah...
We’re staying right by the stadium so we’ll walk over with our cooler packs of beer & hope to meet up with other insane partiers for some BBQ :) KCs reputation preceeds you as we all have heard what amazing BBQ is in store at Chiefs tailgating parties.
I will definitely post again as it gets closer….

Are we going
to do an AP tailgaite? I remember a few guys talking about it earlier in the offseason.
If i were you Heather I would show up with a 12er and I would look for like minded individuals (Guys wearing red, drinking some beer, and eating some bbq) and I would introduce myself and ask if i could share thier cooler and party with them before the game. I think youll find most Chiefs fan at Arrowhead super friendly and would more than welcome you into thier tailgate!

awesome
That’s my plan….I will be decked out in my Chiefs attire (as I was when I went to see them plan the Chargers….man did I get booed…lol) and I will have my cooler pack shoved to max capacity with beer. Then we planned on trying to find the friendliest drunkest bunch we can & offer a few bucks to join in on their BBQ.
I’m hoping to meet up with some fans going to that game when we hit the town the Fri & Sat night before the game…
Good times

Its too bad that Arrowhead
will still be under renovations this season. That just means you will have to come back in ’10 to see her when she is all done up!

OK!!
I’m sure once I’ve been once you won’t have to twist my arm to go again….lol
I just earned a free flight & used my points to book my room…so that made paying $200 for my ticket a little easier to do . So I’ll go back the next time I earn another free flight :) hehe

Wicked Jealous
I hope you have a great time! Where in Cali are you at? I just relocated here this year, still looking for a place to watch the Chiefs games.
There's always next week,,, and when we run out of weeks, there's always next year!

I've been telling you
to do what I do. Every brewery across the state practically has NFL Sunday Ticket. Find one that has wifi and a million flat screens. Find an empty corner thats next to one of the flat screens and politely ask if they can turn on the Chiefs game (in fact I always ask for whatever opponent they’re playing that week). Tell em’ to keep the IPA’s coming, log onto AP, and you’re set. This is the Shuffle’s Cali Sunday ritual. I’m debating though whether to go all out this year and get a flat screen, Sunday ticket, and a Bradley’s smoker and just keep the party at my place. Because the only part of this ritual that sucks is getting a ride home

Yeah..
I figure this will be what I end up doing, but I want to find a place with decent drink specials. I found one near where I am at now but I’ll probably be moving to WeHo soon. It’s really just about checking out the places and finding one I like. I had a few in Denver that were good, just got to start over now.

You in SoCal Shuffle?
If so, what is your watering hole for Chiefs games? We might as well just find a way to organize an entire Chiefs posse that can meet up somewhere for at least one of the games.

NorCal, hombre
Closer to Oregon border than I am any big city. But Ima peep the Raiders & Chargers game this year so if you’re gonna to either one of those it’d be cool to gather a posse.

I’ll be sure to post a SD Roll Call during the week leading up to the SD game.

First Time
It will be awesome. Cowboys in town should mean close to a full house. I am from NY and have been going to KC/Arrowhead for about 6 years now. My second time out there I was waiting to get into the parking lot (showed up at 7am to do pre-pre tailgating) and a Chiefs fan noticed my plate from out of state. It was a rental anyway, but the plate was from Georgia or something. After a few passing comments about how I was a Chiefs fan, I was tailgating with him and his group all afternoon. I have his cell number on hand now for every time I go out each year.
As for Friday and Saturday, I would say the Plaza is pretty cool. Every year I try to do different things. There is usually something going on, Arts festival, bbq contest, etc etc. Check out KC’s website before you head out and it will give you some good ideas.
One last place I would tell you to go is Sports Nuts around the corner from the stadium. They always have players there signing autographs on Saturday afternoon. Plus that place is just awesome. I love walking in there and just seeing all the red and the Arrowhead on everything!!!
Have fun
-Mike

Ok well...
The first step is to
1. Let me know where your staying
2. What your wearing.
Hhaha no im just playing look for the closest person wearing black and silver and kick him in the nuts. Then the nearest Chief fan will provide beer for you for the rest of the day. Just my sugjestion. Usually works, and since your a girl it should be a sure thing.

great advice!
some of my closest friends are Raiders fans…sometimes I’d like to kick them too….lol But of course I also have friends that are Broncos & Chargers fans…..gag

HCL...
….if the night life is appealing to you then I would suggest the Power and Light district after hours. It is pretty cool and there is a lot to do, I was just recently there after a Royals game, it was lots of fun. FYI take a cab cause it is packed and parking is a nightmare and anyway if you can drive home you didn’t drink enough! Also if you do take a cab chat it up with the drivers, most of the guys I got a ride from are from were from various parts of Africa, very interesting to hear about how those guy’s lives have changed. Definatly memorable and humbling.
Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.

i live in switzerland and look to come to arrowhead in october where did you get your tickets? thanks jg
by swichief on Jul 4, 2009 6:33 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
honestly....
I got my tickets on Ebay……all the ticket sites were super expensive & most tickets were in the 300 sections….and just about all the tickets for sale anywhere I’m finding are for corner endzone. But I managed to get in the lower level, 4th row behind the home bench area….so I’m excited as hell!!!!

money money money....
I travel a lot for work, so I had a free flight on Southwest….I racked up enough hotel points that I’m staying in Downtown for the first 2 days…..and the Holiday Inn next to Arrowhead Sunday night so I can get wasted & stumble back to my room. So the only expense so far were my tickets which cost $200 each.
