I’m not a big fan of the Matt Cassel deal that was announced Tuesday with the Kansas City Chiefs and that — like Suggs’ deal — is reported to be valued at $63 million. I still see it as a leap of faith on the part of the Chiefs.

11-5
Cassel was 11-5 last year in any other season that would put you in the playoffs. This guy acts like cassel went 8-8 or something. I can’t wait for week 1 when cassel throws all over suggs defense. GO CHIEFS!

Agreed
That was a weak argument I thought. He said Cassel didn’t win enough games to take his team to the playoffs, those are just the facts. Well…those are the facts, BUT I’ll take 11 wins every season during Cassel’s tenure as a Chief and be willing to bet we make the playoffs every year.

To ME, it's too much coin for any one player.
But in today’s league, when you look at all the $$$ thrown at totally unproven ROOKIES, this deal looks pretty good. They have more certainty than the Lions or Jets have with THEIR high-profile draft picks, plus they know that Cassel is tough enough to step in behind a struggling o-line and get some W’s.
And here’s something you won’t hear anywhere else: If New England does NOT fix that o-line of theirs, Brady is going to struggle. Not sure of their schedule, but I bet the Jets’ d-line will be playing at a VERY high level, at least to start the season. And Miami will be no cake-walk.
What the hell is a system QB anyway?
I keep hearing the douchebags in the sports media spout off about “system QBs.” Wouldn’t a smart O Coordinator design a system that would best utilize the talents of his QB?

sounds familiar....
if there was only someone out there that did that….oh wait…the Chiefs DID do that last year. Right on.
Exactly!
So aren’t all QBs really system QBS?
