Cassel, who threw for nearly 3,700 yards last season in leading New England to an 11-5 record, received $28 million in guaranteed money over a six-year deal from the Chiefs. That's about a third less than the $41.7 million the Lions guaranteed Stafford.

This makes me feel better about the deal
Because we get a guy who has proven he can play and win in this league, and for a lot less money than Stafford. I’m willing to bet Cassel will outplay Stafford. And the really nice thing, Cassel has been tutored by the best and only has one year of being beat on. Yeehaaaw.
Chiefs go 9-7. LJ makes 1400 yards. DBowe makes 1200 yards. Defense #18.
Point made!
I love the fact that the Chiefs are not paying some unknown rookie. To a large degree, Cassel is a known commodity. Give him credit as he had to perform and make all the reads and throws despite a lot of pressure to perform and increased sacks from the Pats O-line. I truly believe Cassel has less pressure than last year. I like the encouragement factor and vote of confidence it will give Cassel as well. Let’s kick some $#@ this year starting with those Ravens!

+1
I just got a shot of Chiefrenaline by this signing (I know, I groaned typing it). And as I have written before, even if Cassel struggles on the field in KC, his charity to those in the Chiefs’ community will always demand respect.
Whoever writes, "It is what it is," or, "At the end of the day," gets banned...Knowing is half the battle.

good deal
Looks like we got a proven qb for less than we would of spent on an early qb in the draft. I have to say smart first move by pioli.

I was just thinking about that
Since Cassel isn’t near Stafford money, and actually a longer contract than Sanchez, I think that positions us to keep Jackson’s agent from getting too greedy just because of draft position. He will get a nice fat contract, but probably less than Cassel.
