Does Cassel being traded affect this at all and when would the Chiefs if inclined be able to sign Cassel longer term after the July 15th date?

Yeah. To a novice like me,
it seems as though KC’s commitment to a high-dollar deal might fall thru the cracks of any agreement he made with NE. I bet his agent expects franchise-type money. I personally think the Patsies played the franchise tag the right way. The way Peterson used the tag only seemed to emphasize the adversarial nature of contract negotiations throughout the organization.
