Derrick Johnson has a Message for Chiefs Fans
Kansas City Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson is launching his new website: SuperDJ56.com. The site isn't quite live yet but should be by 4th of July.
Click play for audio of DJ's message:
For those of you happen to have bosses who don't understand the importance of blogging in the workplace, here's the gist of the 34 second message:
I'm about to launch my new official website called superdj56.com in the next two. By July 4th it should be up and running. I want to get involved with you and I want you to get involved with what I'm doing football-wise and off the field.
Johnson's name hasn't come up much in the media lately, which for the offseason is a good thing. After the jump I've attached a few stories where we've talked about DJ as of late.
June 19th: Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson: 'Change is good'
"Change is good, especially for a team that's been losing for the last two seasons. (After finishing) 4-12 and 2-14, we need a change. We had developed a habit of losing, and we have to turn that around.''
June 12th: Todd Haley on DJ
"Derrick Johnson is following Zach around. If Zach stops, Derrick bumps into him."
June 11th: DJ on the coaches
"I like the coaches. They are very passionate about what they do. There’s an energy around the Chiefs right now. There’s a lot of change going on. Everybody is adjusting and we are ready to go."
June 2nd: Zach Thomas on DJ
"This is going to be his best scheme. It’s definitely weakside linebacker-friendly. It can exploit the talent that he has. Everybody knows how talented and fast he is. If he gets this down where he’s not thinking, just rolling around and just having fun and he knows what to do, he’ll be a great player in this scheme."
May 20th: Listen to Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson on Red Zone Podcast

I've loved(not man-love) this guy since the first time I saw pre-combine tape on him.
Whether he’s underachieved or not lived up to expectation or not I really like his personality and his play on the field. He doesn’t ever make excuses and just goes out and plays and when he is “in the game” he’s a top LB in this league. I’m hoping being attached at ZTs hip will push him over the hump to be the player he was drafted to be.

Right
He’s entering what turns out to be the prime for a lot of players. I have high hopes for him still.

Just dont think he’s ever been given a Veteran/Mentor/Leader to follow to really bring out his potential. We have had a couple guys who couldve been but I dont remember hearing him relating to them or attaching himself too them like he has this offseason. Not to mention the proper coaching but thats an entire fanpost in itself.

This is one of my favorite current Chiefs
I think he has a lot of talent. They really should have him attack the qb more. He gets to them almost every time. I love hearing what ZT says. I really hope he flourishes in this D. Im am really looking forward to seeing him more consistant. He has a lot of talent. I hope he has a break out year. It be nice to see a player from Texas actually make a probowl. It seems like they are jinxed in the NFL. Not that I care that much about Texas, but they are a good college team to watch on tv.
