VIDEO: Cris Carter Picks a Kansas City Chief as his 2009 Breakout Player
"Larry Fitzgerald, move over because there's another young gun. And his name is Dwayne Bowe from Kansas City."
Former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver and soon-to-be Hall of Fame inductee Cris Carter recently made a visit to Kansas City. The result? Picking Dwayne Bowe as his 2009 breakout player.
2007: 70 receptions, 995 yards, 5 touchdowns
2008: 86 receptions,1,022 yards, 7 touchdowns
2009 ESPN Projection: 89 receptions, 1,114 yards, 9 touchdowns
This projection would only be a slight increase over his 2007 and 2008 totals so I guess you could say he's already, um, broke.

He was unfairly snubbed this year
He’s behind Jerry Rice in most major receiving categories.

I know
But it was always funny watching him pout each time he was snubbed.

Oh yeah
He was definitely upset earlier this year.
But he’s got a hell of a resume and should be in there.
I exaggerated my earlier statement before looking up the stats…he’s in the top 5 of most lists.

He'll be a solid Fantasy pick.
I just want him to be instrumental in WINS. That calls for a level of consistency from both him and the other 11 guys that we didn’t see last season.

Ironic
What a great way to start my day, hearing that… It’s funny too, because I was thinking this morning – 530 is never too early to start thinking about fantasy football – that Dwayne Bowe would be first choice off the KC roster this year… Chris Carter just confirmed it for me. Enjoy your Thursday Chiefs Fans.

I've noticed
Carter seems to be the only one to ever give us any love. Game breakdowns when we win have always been about how the other team screwed up, not how we were good. Not Carter though, he actually compliments us and is one of the only ones that regularly picks us to win.
Does he have any connection to the team? It just seems odd that he gives us respect when noone else will.

These media cats are chumps for the most part...
Cris Carter is overall a pretty cool guy and doesn’t seem to write us off like straight up losers everytime the Chiefs are mentioned.
A lot of those guys just seem to think that we are a losing franchise and always will be. We won’t get any respect until we hoist the Lombardi trophy. Thats just how it is when your team has had as much turmoil as the Chiefs in the last few years.

It's hard to say Bowe is a "breakout player".
Considering he had such a nice 2008. I think the real breakout player on the team will be Jamaal Charles, once LJ goes down around game 2 or 3

Man, I hope you are dead wrong about LJ...
If the Chiefs are going to compete this year, LJ will be a pivotal part of it. Remember this, the Chiefs have not won a single game in the last three years when LJ isn’t playing.
