Albert weighed 341 pounds on that day in March, more than 15 pounds heavier than his playing weight during an impressive rookie season in which Albert made the move from college guard to pro tackle, a tall order ordinarily even for a first-round pick.

But Haley's assignment for Albert was more intimidating: a 305-pound playing weight in 2009.

LT Albert earns coach Haley's praise, but he did it the hard way | Red Zone

By the way, Albert weighed in at 309 pounds this weekend.

Structure is important for these young people.

“The workouts from last year to this year are night and day,” said Cox, one of several rookie starters in 2008. "I remember coming in as a rookie and thinking, ‘Man, these workouts, they’re putting emphasis on you doing it yourself.’ But this year, they’re making sure we don’t have a chance to slack or take any days off.

As a math teacher, I’d LOVE to leave students to their OWN learning methods, and I have, to the extent possible. That being said, it’s still critical that you insist on EVERYone doing certain things. It’s easy to pinpoint the kinds of things successful players/students do OUTside of the classroom, but you want EVERYbody doing those kinds of things, and most students/players need (and appreciate) clearly structured must-do’s. It’s not enough to preach it. You have to insist on it and give constant feedback.

I think Albert is over 6' 7"

so 305 is pretty freakin’ lean for him, right?

Marley will be walking soon...she could probably play Linebacker better than some of the guys we had.

Seems that way don't it.

But as LT he would need to face speed rushers as opposed to a RT.

We wonder why we lost so much last year?

Exibit A: LT was 36 lbs overweight.

And who knows about the rest of the team but we’re 338 lbs lighter and its only June.
