Big hat tip to JimNasium over at Chiefs Planet for digging this one up.

Is this Victor Riley, former offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs?

A motorist who had just exited the I-10 twin spans near Slidell was injured when a tire smashed into the windshield and roof of his car after coming loose from an oncoming vehicle and bounding across the interstate medial.

Keith Kelly, 61, was taken to North Shore Regional Hospital after he was rescued from his damaged vehicle by members of the 1st Fire Protection District in Slidell. Kelly was alone his his Crown Victoria when the accident occurred.

The hood, windshield and roof of Kelly's car were smashed by the flying tire, crushing the roof down into the passenger seat.

The driver of the vehicle that lost the tire, Victor Riley, 34, of LaPlace, was not injured.

Hmm.

Same age. Check.

Looks a lot like him. Check.

Automobile trouble? Check.

Riley played for the Saints for three years and LaPlace is just 25 miles west of New Orleans.

I for one think it is the Victor Riley of the 1998 NFL draft. Gotta be, right? Let us know what you think in the poll.

A joke

That he was a 1st round pick now he’s driving some beat up Ford.

A bad joke at that. I’ll think of something more clever and get back to you.

I was amazed that I kept my car under control...

and got it onto the shoulder before the front axle touched down. The jettisoned wheel literally bounce 40 to 50 feet into the air into oncoming traffic. Luckily no one was hurt.

Looks like it's him

In reading that paper, someone writing in commented that someone with Rileys money wouldn’t be driving a Caprice apparently knowing what kind of car the wheel came off of. Another person writing in said that Victor Riley [of the NFL] did indeed drive a Caprice Classic these days.

Whoa, Just remember, A Caprice Classic comes in many forms

By the way

If anyone wants to read the comments themselves——-I looked up the Times-Picayune and did a search for Victor Riley and that brought up three acticles on the same accident and also NFL stuff. One of the three articles had the stuff I mentioned——people writing in—-and it sounded like some of those people were at the accident scene.
