Around SBN: Four TCU Football Players Among 17 Arrested In Drug Ring

32. Well, Josh McDaniels, you'd better be right about Kyle Orton. Denver fans will not react well if Orton fails to lead Denver to the postseason, and especially if the Broncos' ex Jay Cutler gets to play deep into January. While Orton is 21-12 as an NFL starter and nearly pushed Chicago to the playoffs a year ago, he lacks the elite skillset of a Cutler. Some around Denver wonder if Orton will even beat out Chris Simms for the starting job. For reference, Simms' last starting experience came in 2006 in Tampa, where he went 0-3 with 1 TD and 7 INTs ... and somewhere, Broncos fans moan.

FOX: Broncos have the worst set of QBs in the NFL

GenericBrand linked this earlier but I wanted to make sure everyone saw the Broncos ranking. Chiefs are 15th.

Initially thought the Broncos rank was a bit harsh...

but honestly after re-reading the criteria and looking at the QBs I could only really argue that Minny, Tampa, the Jets and maybe the Raiders are in worse positions then the Broncos. Lucky for Denver fans, Orton does have the skills to bring them back to respectabllity on this list by seasons end.

This article was automatically discredited

when I had to scroll down to 8 and 9 for Brady and Manning. Seriously, he has Jake Delhomme and the Panthers ranked above two of the greatest to ever play the game. Why? Cuz of depth? I’m sorry, but Josh McCown isn’t so appreciably better than Jim Sorgi or Kevin O’Connell to make up for the chasm between Manning or Brady versus Delhomme. This is seriously a joke of an article.

For justice we must go to Don Pioli

Beyond that

I wonder how poor he would’ve felt that NE’s QB depth was last season, but I seem to recall someone who hadn’t started a game since HS coming in and having a pretty solid year.

Last year at this time

Would anyone be singing Cassel’s praises? I know what you mean, but you can only go on what you know and we knew nothing about Cassel last year.

my whole point

is that analyzing QB depth as the means of finding out who has the best QB situation is ridiculous. Its not like other positions where you rotate guys or have multiple at the position on the field at one time like WR. There is one QB and he plays the whole game and the whole season barring injury. And it looks like this guy is rating backups higher if they have experience as mediocre starters instead of guys who are question marks and haven’t started significant amount of games. Those guys waiting in the wings that haven’t seen many starts in there lives (the Sorgis and O’Connells of the world) could be the next Cassel, but we all know what we’re getting with Kitna and Volek, and its a stop gap, and a rather pathetic one at that.

The Broncos ranking is probably about right

Broncos fans would disagree but I’d take Brady Quinn over Orton any day of the week. Quinn’s college stats (which is all we really have to go on since he has three career starts) have the makings of him being an above average quarterback. Ton of games played, high completion percentage…I still think Quinn’s going to be a good NFL QB.

If you add Cassels and Thiggys numbers from last year

I bet they lead the league in passing yards. OK that’s cheating since Cassel played 15 games and Thiggy started over half the year, but we still should be higher on the list, come on Romo (I’m good for an INT per game) ahead of us? Isn’t his backup from Detroit? If we were a big market, I guarantee the “experts” would be having orgasms over Cassel/Thighpen!

Negative Ghost Rider the pattern is full...
