Adam Teicher tried to figure out what the signing of Mike Brown means to the Chiefs' secondary (Kansas City Star).

I agree with all his points

Except that Pollard “might be in trouble” with the Brown signing.

I don’t think Mike Brown sticks around for more than one (maybe two) years. Pollard is young and has a use on this team.

The only "trouble"

Might be having to play a little harder to keep the starting job. Gee…from a standpoint that would be bad.

What I mean is

Brown’s by no means a long-term solution. I just don’t see them giving up on Pollard this early.

I dont agree with everything

I don’t think they brought in Brown to take anyones spot and I highly doubt they signed him only to cut him next month. Haley has speaking highly of the DBs and what they bring all offseason. Brown is a veteran leader who will split time, like he did last year with Manning, and bring knowledge and leadership to a young DB core.

Maybe he can teach Pollard how to actually tackle ....

…. instead of just trying to crush people all of the time.

Teicher's about the only one to echo my comments

on how Gun’s “highly touted safeties” don’t usually have to prove themselves. This new D may be simpler, but the safeties will have to be mentally tougher and make quick decisions.

Yesterday, with AP denied me, I spent some time on nfl.com and read their readers’ responses to the signing. While acknowledging his injury troubles in the past, Bears fans were unanimous in wishing him well, and telling Chiefs fans that we made a smart deal. He will bring a physical and VOCAL presence to the D-backfield. And a BIG dose of football intelligence, which is what this new outfit wants, almost more than anything.
