MY CASSEL QUESTIONS?

I really want to have hope this guy pans out. Here is my questions. Do you think he was only good because of Moss, Welker, the Pats O-Line and Bellichek  (sorry I missed spelled). Does it seem weird that Croyle started and broke school records for a big program school and Cassel rode the bench behind Palmer and Leinart.  What happened . At least you have a hot wife. Is he well suited for the spread? Who the hell is he gonna throw it to besides Bowe, who still has to learn to catch the easy ones? I don't know, I"m sure its been discussed, I just was wondering if you felt these were legit questions?

Yes, these questions have been discussed ad nauseum.

As a matter of fact, it is a little weird what you point out about Croyle and Cassel. Let’s be realistic—Croyle is a very talented player and proved it in college. He also proved to be injury prone while in college. While he did surpass a bevy of big name QBs that went to ‘Bama, they also did not play in offenses that passed a lot while Brodie did. He has since been passed by statistically there.
Cassel, I would have to say, picked the wrong school to go to. He had the misfortune of being backup to a pair of Heisman trophy winners. I think most any other school would have had him in the lineup for at least two years. Then he got drafted to a team that has arguably one of the best QBs ever to play. On the bright side of that, he has gotten to see the preparation of several top-notch QB and hopefully has learned a lot from that. And best of all, he hasn’t been getting beaten to death for years by defenses, so he may have a lot of years of playing left in him.

Welcome to AP!!

Glad to have you. In my opinion this is by far the best site for Chiefs info. In fact, it’s one of the best blogs I’ve ever seen. We all need to help keep the level as high as possible. Hope to hear more from you!

We've touched on it.

Go through these Fanposts and the comments of each. You’ll know more about Matt Cassel than you want to know.

Here and hereand here and here

To directly answer your question, I don’t think Cassel was only good because of Moss and Welker. He still had to make the throws, even if it was easier when they were open.

i never go to oakland for the trashy raiders but there every charger /chiefs game

im from long beach. me and my buddy are longtime chiefs fans. I went to high school with Pat Barnes who was a chief’s back up qb a while back, we go to the chiefs raider game in kc every year as well as the donkey game. We will probally be coming up for the dallas, pit, and ny game this year. i really like our home schedule. We play some good teams. I hope we can be competitive.

it is a bit of a concern

But I think people need to realize that the NE offensive line was not all that great last year, and they ended up doing a lot of the same things we did to compensate. It seems like he was beginning to make better decisions as the year went on. I just can’t wait to see how this year will play out.

by Zodeman on Jun 25, 2009 11:37 AM CDT up reply actions

Yeah....

Yeah, he did get sacked 47 times last year, and what bothers me is that everyone says that he was only good casue the Patriots O-line was good. But the thing is, their O-line stunk last year! That O-line let one of the worsed pass rushers (The Chiefs :-D) get to Tom Brady in the first place! And people always say he holds on to the ball to long. in the 1st half of the season that was true, but in the 2nd half he only got sacked 19 times out of his 47. 5 of those being the Steelers (can’t balme a guy).

haha..This has got to be one of the most debated topics on here during the offseason

but welcome to the site!

My only question is why we are bringing brodie croyle into the equation? Seriously? Who cares about college accomplishments..The nfl is completely different..I can’t understand why people are still pulling for Brodie when Cassel and Thigpen both showed a lot of promise last year!

My two cents anyways!

Welcome

im not pulling from brodye. Im all about usc players

i just think it is wierd how he was a starter for a big school and Cassel was a b/u. Kinda of funny how now its the other way around. I guess I wasn’t to clear on making that point. In no way am I a Croyle fan. He hasn’t even showed me any promise that he will develop. He should go home and spend time with his hot wife.

The Cassel question

Matt Cassel might be good only if they put an offensive line in front of him. and LJ learns how to run and they find some receivers who can catch. I think its good to have a coach like Haley he needs to get after those who aren’t up to par.

by Meakcfan on Jun 25, 2009 3:38 PM CDT reply actions

+1

LJ has all the talent and knows what he needs to…He just needs to try and stop complaining if he doesn’t get the ball as much as he wants.

I got really tired of watching him walk up to the line, just to fall over.

Being the Homer that I am

I do not ask these types of questions. Im just looking forward to when Cassel brings the Chiefs to the playoffs.

Reply to the Moss, Welker comment

I think Randy Moss and Wes Welker helped Matt Cassel out alot in NE, but if you look at the second half of the season, he was getting more comfortable and throwing it to Jabar Gaffney and Kevin Faulk. So I think that once the season progresses he’ll get more comportable throwing it to Bradly and Engram, not just to Bowe and short passes to Larry Johnson.

by NE_ChiefsFan on Jun 26, 2009 11:27 AM CDT reply actions

Agreed

Once he gets more comfortable… things will open up more for our offense…
