Around SBN: Randy Moss A Raven?

"Hopefully that’ll happen," Toomer said. "I’m counting on that to happen. Then I’ll just compete like I have every other year. I’m not that concerned about it. I think there are a lot of teams out there with a need. I have the ability. If they have a need, let’s get together and it’ll be a good match."

Interesting thought

Appeared in at least 15 games per year dating back to 1997, save the 2006 season when he only started eight.

The guy was a class act and a good clutch receiver.

Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...

If he’s willing to work cheap and not be a locker room distraction, I could see him in Arrow Head.

is it me? or isn't about time the Lamar Hunt trophy belonged to His team?

Toomer

Is probably the only Vet WR available that I would like to see us bring in even if its only for 1 season. Harrison would be ok as well but not worth the price tag.

I’d rather have Toomer than Harrison – Toomer has more left in the tank and none of the off-the-field baggage that has exploded around Harrison in the last two years.

/ for the love of god, we need receivers, at least talk to him

Meh, I'd rather have our young guys get some PT under Haley's guidance.

I think we'll wait until camp

I think it would be good to get the pads on and see how the timing goes with our young guys first. But of all the receivers on the market right now, this is the only one I would not mind seeing come in. Problem is, we don’t really know what we have in house at the moment. I’m sure if Haley was convinced we don’t have anything to work with, there would have been some action already.

I agree with that.

No reason to fix something that is not broken….that we know of. If we start signing veteran WR what is that going to tell the guys we have now…that they are not good enough. The guys we have need confidence…..after they get their shot THEN we can see where we are at.

only reason to think about him would be

Toomer would help take the load off of the WRs if we could use him as a type of TE. He has sure hands and has proven he can make the clutch catches……just something to think about.

What is it going to tell them???

It’s going to tell them that they better step up there game if they want some playing time.

If we signed Toomer I think that he would be more of a 3rd down receiver nothing big, but we need someone that can make clutch plays.

They aren't good enough

Would you rather have Webb than Toomer? I wouldn’t. How about Darling? Not likely. Maybe Bradley, but if he gets hurt it would be nice to have another dependable receiver around. The guys we just signed this year probably won’t get that much playing time anyhow, so signing Toomer for a year while they improve their fundamentals won’t set them back. I admit, it would give us kind of old receiving corps with Toomer and Engram getting a lot of reps. But Bowe would get another year of starting experience, Bradley would get a lot of playing time (unless injured) and the new kids would get a chance to improve under Haley so they can step in more by the end of the season and start next year. I’d say dump Webb and Toomer.

New Coaches New QB New Everything!

Give the current WR’s a chance. This is new for everyone. Lets see if they can do good in this new system with Cassel throwing the ball. We always had TG so we only had room for one more WR to throw to. Now our TE passing game will be virtually non-existent….meaning the WR have to step up because they will get the ball thrown to them plenty of times…..we dont need Toomer. If we did he would be wearing a Chiefs jersey right now. He cant hang with our young guys, Bradley, Darling, Lawrence, and yes even Webb.

I thing he would be a good pick up

but I also think Haley is happy with what we have, as with all the holes we think the team has the coaches know things we don’t about the team and if he thought there was someone better he would get them. I still do believe we will get another person or two but they just haven’t became available yet.

Herm is gone things are better with that one move!!

Thats the nice part about Vets

Haley can evaluate almost until the last minute then bring a vet in and other then getting in game shape they wont miss a beat on the field.

Webb and Darling

I just hope our new management doesn’t fall for Webb and Darling looking good in workouts.

They must look great in workouts, as our previous coaches liked them and they’re still around. But they’ve never actually done anything in games. Seems like we could upgrade on them with players who might actually perform in a game once in a while.
