It amuses me when I here Chief fans discuss Pass Rushers. While many fans wanted KC to sign Jason Taylor the answer to their problems might be where fans least expect it.
The answer is in their own back yard. Their names ?
Darrell Robertson and Andy Studebaker.

I’ve felt like if we have any sleeper on this team at all, it’s this kid (being as that Johnston is now off the team)
Studebaker? Notsomuch (Borat style)

Wow
I can say with some confidence that this post has the most exciting possibilities of any I’ve read in months.
IF both of these guys turn out to be studs… the Chiefs will have a DEEP and SOLID defense that could be very dynamic.
Seriously, if Robertson and Studebaker step up… Hali can contribute a bit, Vrabel and Thomas can be solid, but their replacements are already on the roster… the D Line is already much improved and deep, and the secondary is solid and young…
there’s almost nothing I’d rather see happen this year.

and the + side of things
Georgia Tech DE Darrell Robertson Scouting Report
Height: 6-4 , Weight: 255
Strengths: Fluid natural athlete who has an explosive first step…huge frame with the ability to add bulk…could translate well to a 3-4 OLB position due to his fantastic athleticism…top academic performer who is a hard worker on the field…real solid season as a senior (even better than his numbers show)…high upside prospect…

This could also be why
The Chiefs HAVEN’T gone out and signed Ellis, Peppers, or ANYONE else to be a pass rusher. AND why they ignored OLB/ “predator” in the draft.
I’ve said it before, but I’m really thinking that Pioli and Haley see enough on this roster that they don’t feel the need to upgrade that position, WR or RT…
We’ll see if they are right

I agree with the OLB part
Although I think Pioli will be sniffing around for T and WR depth all the way up to camp.

Especially WR. I KNOW Haley would like to see an upgrade there.

You would think so...
But, I don’t sense any urgency.
There might be some big egos at play….
Maybe both guys want to be able to say they took a roster of undereachievers and made winners out of them.
Maybe they want to develop their draft picks and unheralded FA, and they are so confident in their ability to do that, they don’t want to “sell out” and bring in big name FAs

Interesting
I don’t know anything about these guys, but Robertson certainly sounds like he has all the necessary qualities to perform in this league: Athleticism, high football IQ, and incredible work ethic. What really stands out to me is his rush defense statistic: 101 attempts to his side of the field and only .3 per carry? and only 1 first down? Sounds pretty sick to me.
So, with all of those outstanding qualities, how come we haven’t heard anything out of this guy in OTAs?
I could get more sacks with my sack
