"It’s just the opportunity to play again, that’s all you want," Croyle said Monday after spending another morning rehabbing while the Chiefs went through their 11th OTA session of the off-season.

"You just want that one more opportunity to get back out there and see what you can do. That’s what pushes you. If you don’t love the game, I can see where it (rehab) would be really hard to do over and over again. This is a game I’ve grown up playing and it’s something I’m not ready to give up yet."

Croyle...

Seems like a nice enough guy and I hope things work out for him. For all the Brokie-bashing we do, we tend to forget this guy is down-to-earth and genuine. It would be hard giving up on your dream after coming so close and I say let him keep trying. He has to beat out Ingle Martin for the #3 spot, which he should, and then he’ll have one year to prove to the coaches and our new GM that they should at least keep him in a reserve capacity. Good luck Brodie.

Down but not out

When he got his knee busted last year I said that was career ending. Maybe not, seems like he has a lot of want-to and will try his best. If we keep him we have three guys that are all about the same age and could be set at QB for a long time. Who knows…Brodie may break out and really be something…he has the arm. There are lots of QBs who ride pine for a long time and then have a few good years before they retire. I will ALWAYS support someone who has a dream and is willing to work their ass off for it.

Damon Huard

Marley will be walking soon...she could probably play Linebacker better than some of the guys we had.

True

But Trent was drafted in ‘93 and never really got a chance until ’98 with the Redskins when he had a decent year on a bad team. Then got destroyed and didn’t do much until he came here in ‘01. Yes, Brodie has had more injuries, but he’s also seen more game time at this point in his career than Trent had.

LOL…Steve Bono rode pine for 9 years before we got a 13-3 year out of him. Lenny Dawson rode pine for 5 years before he broke into starting. Steve DeBerg either played for shit teams or rode pine for 11 years before having some good years here. Rich Gannon rode pine the majority of time in 9 of his first 11 years before going on a roll with the Raiders.

Dan Fouts pretty much sucked for his first 5 years without playing full time, then finally the right system came along. Back in the 60’s Roman Gabriel stunk it up for 5 years before the Rams got real good for awhile. Ron Jawarski rode pine for 3 years with the Rams before the Eagles turned him into a starter. Sonny Jurgensen rode pine for 4 years before suddenly having a pro bowl year (and looking at his overall stats—what’s he doing in the hall of fame?). Dave Krieg didn’t become the man until his 5th year and had lots of years after that.

So anyway…I could go on with the list but the point is we shouldn’t give up to soon. Maybe Brodie won’t make it, but if he sticks around and someday ends up with a good career, he sure wouldn’t be the first. Like I said, I will always support someone who is willing to work hard for their dreams.

Ah well...more QBs on the pine list

Daryl Lamonica…4 years backup with the Bills before the Raiders got 6 stellar years.
LOL…then it can go the other way too…Mike Livingston played mostly backup here for 9 years and didn’t have too bad a record…then got to start for three years on a horrible team.
Another injury prone guy who played a lot of years was Jim McMahon. Seems like he missed games a lot due to being beat to hell…but still made a long career. But he probably missed more games due to attitude than anything.
And let’s not forget Joe Montana missed a year of college due to injury, and it took him until midway through his second year to beat out Steve DeBerg as starter. And then he missed a bit of time over the years due to injury. Not that I think Brodie is the next Montana LOL.
Then there’s good old Earl Morrall who only started 102 games in 21 YEARS in the league. But OMG…what a career. He was great when he had to be….filled in for Johnny Unitas and Bob Griese….look him up…kind of amazing. But he’s STILL picking splinters out of his ass.
Wow…Bill Munson….started only 65 games in 16 years! His ass had to have been sore from sitting.

OMG…this could go on and on. Brodie may be around for a long long time and never play much….or he could be a future starter…..or this summer may be the end.

But I got to say…..I will cringe whenever he goes into the game and hide my eyes every time he gets hit. Good Luck Brodie.

Absolutely

Croyle seems snakebit when it comes to injuries. I’m not sure most QB’s could have played after the two hits he got. NE got Revenge for Brady on the first one and i want to see any QB stand up on a shredded knee. You can not have too many talented players.Just glad we are not counting on him to start

He is a very likeable guy

I hope it all turns out for him. He seems to have the tools but not the body. I think he could make a pretty good backup, but hopefully you only need him to play for a short time.

Good luck to him but...

Can you imagine? Cassel and Thiggy go down in the same game and Croyle comes in?! I’d be scared shitless!! Who the hell is at QB when he goes down (cause you know he will).

Believe me, I don’t doubt his ability, just his durability. I was one of his biggest supporters before last year but I just can’t do it any more. Personally I’d feel much safer with another 3rd.

TOUCHDOWN! KAN-SAH-CITY!!!

As it stands

We have three QB’s on our roster who know what it feels like to be “the guy” and only one knows what it’s like to be “the guy” that wins. Next to corner QB is our deepest position (bet nobody would expect to be saying that this off season of two seventh round picks and a third)

Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.
