Brett Favre says he is considering coming out of retirement for a second time and the only team he has talked to about a return to the NFL is the Minnesota Vikings.

Favre appeared on the new HBO show "Joe Buck Live" in his first public appearance since retiring from the New York Jets in February.

Brett Favre finally talks about possible return, Vikings - ESPN

H/T NaNz. At least this time it's coming from the horse's mouth. Expect to see total Brett Favre coverage here (That's a total lie.). I don't think everyone has FAVRESPN.

I Hope Green Bay Knocks Him Out With A Concussion

After he throws three picks. Normally I don’t really wish for injuries on players, but frankly I’m sick of listening to Brett Favre’s bullshit. He’s quite possibly the biggest team cancer currently in the NFL and I hope the Packers kick his ass for all the crap they’ve had to deal with from him.

I also hope that the Packers refuse to retire his number and that he doesn’t go into the HOF as a first ballot guy (although, yes, he merits eventual election). Screw that two-faced hick choker.

Predictions for 2009

1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
2. The Lions will draft Matt Stafford, the Rams will draft Jason Smith, and the Chiefs will draft either Aaron Curry or Eugene Monroe.
3. Maurice Carthon will be the most hated man on the Chiefs' coaching staff within two years.
4. Larry Johnson has already played his last meaningful game for the Kansas City Chiefs. He's gone before the 2009 season starts.

And Its Not Like Green Bay Was Wrong About Favre

Rogers looks like the real deal. Sure the record wasn’t the same, but then again, neither was the defense.

Absolutely

The Pack didn’t do so hot last year, but it had nothing to do with Rodgers. They’d have been worse with Favre running things.

Dude, I couldn't agree more

I’m really tired of the Favre “hey look at me, i’m an attention whore” crap as well. I used to think highly of the guy, but good god dude, let the horse stay dead! Beating it won’t solve anything.

I can’t help but wonder what, and possibly to what, extent his agent has to do with all this. After the Cutler fiasco, and the previous Favre fiasco(s). I just really hope that Tim Tebow doesn’t hire Cook as his agent, he’s already a pansy whiny self-involved little biatch; he doesn’t need anyones help/

My crystal ball says that the Chiefs will not be drafting Aaron Curry. Their record at the end of 2009 will be 10-6. After witnessing the 2009 draft, their record will be 8-8.

Cook Might Have Something To Do With It

But frankly I think Favre has been a self-absorbed asshole for a very long time. He’s had people kissing his ass since he was at Southern Miss, I imagine his ego was plenty big before he ever talked to Bus Cook.

I wonder what Favre is going to do after he finally can’t find a job anymore. My suspicion is that he’ll relapse into drugs and alcohol for awhile. Not wishing it on the guy, just to be clear, just saying that I think not having people adore him is going to really screw with him after 20-some years and life changes often hurt drug addicts and their sobriety. He also comes off to me as one of those ex-jocks who’s terrified of his career ending (regardless of what he says in his b.s. press conferences).

I think Holmgren

was able to keep him under control, seems like after he left is when it got really bad. I can see how not having all those people stroke your ego anymore could leave him wanting more, but this is just getting sad. I hope MN cuts a deal with him and implodes.

I say it happens

Minnesota is short 1 QB as far as being a solid super bowl contender goes and Favre will never put the ball down until he’s forced out of the league. Too bad Favre will throw more interceptions 09 than Rosenfields Frerrotte and Jackson did combined in 08

Brett Favre Is A Joke

Seriously, as far as I’m concerned Superstar Brett Favre quit playing the same year Mike Holmgren left Green Bay, only to be replaced by Whiny, Bitchy Attention Whore Brett Favre.

I predict he’ll throw at least three picks in the first game against Green Bay…then blame his receivers.

I don't get it...

…the guy had everything. Every desirable QB record, the respect of most everyone in the league, and the love and worship of a small town that loves their packers and he threw it all away. well, he still has the records, I guess, but what he’s doing isn’t really helping that legacy. He has a damn SB ring, what is it he wants that he thinks he’s going to get by betraying a city that loved him for 15 years? He’s lost his mind.

I don’t recall jordan ever playing the bitch like farve has the last few years. Besides….titles earned: Jordan 6, Farve 1

Jordan was the man. Farve WAS a great quarterback. Now he’s just A man. A whiney one at that.

I dunno.

I can easily see wanting to retire after a tough season, and wanting to play a month or two later. Human nature. And at this stage (or any) of a career, he had a better chance in New York to make some noise than a sliding GB team. And now Minnesota seems to be on the upsurge and have no clear starting QB. Why not? Heck, wouldn’t you take a bunch of money to play football with a shot at a title?

wish injuries to end someone’s career, but i am real close to thinking that might be good. I am so sick of this circus that is FARVE’s story. You are washed up, you aren’t going to go to another SB, just end already before something bad happens.

Oh, I'm too steaming to write anything right now

I don’t get it. This is the first time he has spoken since he retired and everyone is going off on him like a whiney me-first primadonna. Its not his fault that people have been covering the story every day for the past 2 months. For Christs sakes, I don’t understand why this is about ego, or vengance or any of these things. You all have no idea what is going through his head…he wants to play football so let him. And to call him a team killer? You have to be kidding me?!
Look at his last 2 teams:
2008 Jets. Turned a 4 win team into a playoff contender. Started 8-3 and then his arm fell off. True he struggled down the stretch but you throw a ball with a torn bicep tendon. He also made Leon Washington and Thomas Jones into studs…they were invisable with Chad Pennington.
2007 Packers. Went 13-3 and was a missed FG away from the Superbowl. Brett leaves, same team stays and they win 6 games.

I understands peoples frustration with the constant reporting and 1/2 stories and usless bullshit, but don’t put this on Brett. He hasn’t left his home in Mississippi and if and when he plays this year with a Superbowl ready team in Minessota, it will be as fun as hell to watch

Funny...

but I agree. Favre is always fun to watch. The man is a legend and has reserved his spot in the Hall of Fame. If I were in his shoes, I would be thinking the same thing. A legitimate shot at another Super Bowl? Sure, the Vikings have that with this team and no QB1. Favre can be that missing link that gets them there. That is, if his arm is fine after the surgery and if it is, I guarantee you’ll see less interceptions this year. I’ve played baseball my whole life. Now that I’m 36 and on the decline, I’ve resorted to softball just to stay active in a similar sport. I know where Brett’s coming from and to have such a passion for the game, I say go for it…

Was A Legend

Was being the operative word. As far as I’m concerned he quit being a great QB as soon as Mike Holmgren left for Seattle. Since then he’s been living off reputation and winning squat.

Faulty Argument
2007 Packers. Went 13-3 and was a missed FG away from the Superbowl. Brett leaves, same team stays and they win 6 games.

Their defense was what fell apart last year, not the play at QB. In fact, Rodgers outplayed Favre last year by a significant margin. He was about the same in completion percentage but far better in TD/INT ratio, better in throwing for distance, and he threw for more overall yardage. If Favre had been playing for the Packers last year they’d have been lucky to win four games.

It really bugs me how everyone lionizes Favre for a Super Bowl he won over a decade ago and his gunslinging “style”. You know what I think when people call a QB a “gunslinger”? I think “There’s a QB who’d rather look good throwing a pass into triple coverage and getting picked off than sacrificing his ego to help his team win.” Brett Favre is an ass, and the way he’s treated the fans of Green Bay and the Packers organization the last five years has proven him to be an ass.

The Media

keeps covering the Favre because people are tunning in an watching it. I am sick of HEARING about it too but I’m not really that sick of Brett Favre. His personality aside he is pretty damn interesting to watch on the field.

I watch footballfor the entertainment and I’d be interested to watch the Farve lead Vikes play that Packers a couple of times. Just to see who got the bragging rights.

In the end I don’t give a damn about the Vikes or the Pack so I would like to see if Bret ruins the Vikes season or lifts them up or throws a ball with his arm still attached cause he is so damn old.

Bravo

Finally someone who can differeciate Brett vs The medias coverage of Brett.
At the end of the day football is about entertainment, and Vikes vs Packers will be great entertainment. Who wouldn’t watch this game? Cheer for him, or cheer against him, but you are watching!

Funny how your perception about certain bloggers changes from respect to disgust by typing bullshit about wishing injury upon someone simply because you are sick about hearing about them.

Wow thats clever.

What did they win 10 games last year without a passing game? Even the hardened Favre hater has to admit he is a better passing threat than Tavaris freaking Jackson. If his arm is 100%, Vikes win at least 12 games.

I get all this shit about people being tired of hearing about him. I don’t get the “Favre is a shitty/overrated QB” talk.

Happiness is a long walk with a putter in your hand.

12 wins doesn't get you a Super Bowl.

They get Favre, there will be hightened expectations to win the SB. The combo of a washed up Favre, an improving NFC North (Cutler and Rodgers anyone?), and the choke artist of a coach that is Brad Childress will result in the Vikes doing squat. Childress takes the fall and is fired. Favre retires AGAIN, after ruining his second team in two years. The Vikings finally do the right thing and trade up to take one of 2010 draft’s QB’s.

by HIV 2 Elway on Jun 16, 2009 1:50 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

How did he ruin the Jets?

He turned a 4 win team into a 9 win team? Yep, he ruined them alright….

I’m not saying the Vikings are a superbowl team, but with a top 5 defence, the best RB in the game and a vertical threat, they become a viable Superbowl contender. And as Kurt Warner showed us, get into the playoffs, and anything can happen. Anyone remember 2 years ago when Brett single handedly willed the Packers into the NFC championship game in Lambeau??? Sure the game didn’t end as he hoped, but it was still a hell of a season.

Happiness is a long walk with a putter in your hand.

Well, they're now on their second coach in 2 years...

They gave up a pick to get to get Favre, Favre playing means Clemmens rides the pine and thus they reamin unsure about what they got from that 2nd round pick, then this year they have to trade most of their draft to move up to take a QB after Favre left. They were in better shape before he got there then they are after he left. You may disagree, but that’s ruining a team in my book, even if they got 5 more wins (one of which really doesn’t count as they beat Herm).
