"I’m still confident," Jackson said. "My agent is going to do a real good job. I really don’t know too much about it, but I’m pretty sure he’s going to do a good job and put me in camp when I’m supposed to be there.

Damn you Carl Peterson!
Greedy money grubber always letting your ego get in the way of getting our players in camp on time!
Oh wait, Carls not here anymore. Who’s fault is it then?
Ha
We debunked the Carl doesn’t get guys into camp on time theory (at least over the last five years) a while ago.
But I know you were being sarcastic.
It has less to do with Pioli and Eugene Parker (Jackson’s agent) than with the second and fourth picks getting done.

So do we know?
How much involvement will Denny Thum have when it comes to contract negotiations. He’s rumored to be a fantastic no BS negotiator and one of the league’s foremost cap experts. I’d be really surprised if he wasn’t involved. Anyone?
Braccae illae virides cum subucula rosea et tunica Caledonia-quam elenganter concinnatur!
I thought that'd be what Thum's assignment was. Yes.
I think Pioli probably has ultimate say, but Thum’s surviving the purge suggests Pioli and he see eye-to-eye. I think Pioli wants to be more on the football side of the operations, down on the field in HIS hoodie. Thum’ll be the numbers guy and the suit that talks turkey with Jackson’s agent, while Jackson and Pioli just agree that their numbers guys will work somethin’ out, and talk football all day long.
That is and has been
What Denny’s job has been for a few years now, even when the last GM was here.
My crystal ball says that the Chiefs will not be drafting Aaron Curry. Their record at the end of 2009 will be 10-6. After witnessing the 2009 draft, their record will be 8-8.
Yeah
Thum was the good cop, and went negotiations weren’t getting done Carl apparently came in (and this is when a lot of the acrimonious negotiations reportedly occurred).
