At the start of CCU's charity golf tournament, Tyler Thigpen was introduced by Chanticleer head coach David Bennett as the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. That title may be a little optimistic, but that doesn't bother Thigpen.

Thigpen = Class
This guy has everything you could ask for in a backup. He may someday even have what teams want in a starter if he continues to improve.
By being a team player, not bitching, learning the offense and conducting himself with class he is keeping doors open for himself. Its great that he is focused on the team and getting better because he is an injury away from taking over. It is a nice feeling to know we don’t have to go in to total panic mode if something happens to Cassel AND we may not be screwed if he turns out to be a bust.
Thiggy’s attitude will serve him well one day. Whether it is with the Chiefs or another team.

Maybe it's like presidents
Presidents are still addressed with the honorific “President” even when they leave office. Maybe QBs are the same.

Waiting until August!

I am becoming more impressed with Thigpen all the time.
He has handled himself very well. Don’t beleive for a second thta Pioli and Haley are not noticing. We still do no know what Cassel is and he is still not here long term. The QB battle is truly an open race (although I believe Cassell will win it). Haley has proven that he will start the QB who he feels gives us the best chance regardless of who is supposed to be the guy.
If you do not believe that Haley has an open competition at the QB spot just give Matt Leinart a call.

technically his statement is true because
Thigpen was the starter at the end of last season, and no announcement has been made on the starter for this coming season even though Cassel is the heavy favorite. Thigpen is still technically the starter until Haley makes the decision

Or
until someone else starts a game at QB. Even if Haley calls Cassel the starter, it doesn’t matter until he actually starts a game for us.

I would tend to agree with both these statements your honor!
