With Tony Gonzalez now wearing a Falcons jersey, the Chiefs are left to find a new starting tight end for the upcoming season. Although the favorite is widely believed to be 2008 third-rounder Brad Cottam, head coach Todd Haley has declared it an open competition. Kansas City brought in four new tight ends this offseason — veterans Sean Ryan and Tony Curtis and rookies Jake O’Connell and Tom Crabtree — and each one is expected to get a crack to seize the No. 1 spot away from Cottam in a battle that could last deep into training camp.
