Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Sets Assist High In Easy Win Over Sacramento

Well, because even as they have shown no public interest in Waters, the Dolphins are keenly aware he's dangling out there as a possible training camp "acorn," as general manager Jeff Ireland likes to call them. Waters as an option has not been ruled out by the Dolphins.

According to this article...

The Chiefs, acting in their best business interest, have told Waters they will consider that option as long as the right opportunity to upgrade their team (read acceptable compensation) becomes available.

Is this true? I haven’t read or heard about this…has anyone else? If so, where was this published or who said this? All that I’ve heard was that players don’t dictate business decisions and they wouldn’t respond to such demands.

and...

what would his father-in-law offer the Chiefs in compensation that Pioli would deem worthy?

It would NEVER happen, but I like Ted Ginn’s possibilities…

acting in their best business interest

I’d hope the Chiefs would always act in their best business interest and be willing to consider trading anybody to upgrade the team. There is no news in Herald article, just a little what-if daydreaming on their part.

Maybe Miami can contact Whitlock to get the hookup on Jeff George, too.

It must still be June.

The Chiefs may decide they don't want to carry Waters into the season because that would automatically guarantee his $3.6 million base salary.

Really… because being over the salary cap is such a huge issue for us. The reverse is more so true, as we are quite a bit under the cap and should meet the min. salary.

If Pioli can trade away

our two best players (Tony Gonzalez & Brian Waters) and win more than 2 games, then we’re in good hands

This Waters thing is like us speculating about Boldin.

Arizona has no interest in losing him. Interesting to note, though, that, when asked, Haley’s said that if he weren’t locked up in Arizona, he’d fight to bring him to KC. Rather than a first overture, though, I think it’s simply that the Cards have no intention of losing him, and I think they’ll work out a deal. Same with Waters, except he already has a contract that he hasn’t complained about.

Tempest in a teapot until/unless proven otherwise.

i wonder if they are doing the same thing they did with tony

telling waters go get a deal somewhere and if its a good trade we will consider it. WHich is no sweat of piolis asss water would get what he wants and we would get what we want more valued younger players.

wouldn't be surprised

They have been very clear about wanting players who WANT to be Chiefs, are in love with football, and work at it all the time. Somehow it looks like Waters may not be fitting that mold. If he shows up for training camp all blubbery and out of shape he will have some serious work to do just to keep his job. May as well let him see if he can find something else. We need him, but he is far from indispensable.

** IF'n ** I am Coach

I would unlock the hold on Boldin by simply calling them up and saying * I will give you Waters and a 2nd rounder ( tony g’s 2nd ) for your Boldin **

  • I would think this would unlock the grip by quite a bit by Arizona *

or maybe im stuck in a fatasy world where my team was never 2-14, who knows!
